I have some confusing information in my database and I hope that someone can help me out. I have Woodard Monroe Hayes as a son of George W. Hays/Hayes. However, I have seen another source that lists him as a son of Nevin Hays/Hayes (brother of George W. that was killed in the Civil War.) I have a note in my database to myself that Woodard is found in the household of George W. Hays/Hayes in 1860, but I can't find a copy of the census record to verify that. Since what I've found on Woodard indicates that his year of birth is 1856 and since I have another son of George W. with a year of birth as 1856 but a different month it would be logical to assume that Woodard is not the son of George W., but perhaps a nephew in his household. Anyway, if those of you familiar with the Hays/Hayes family of Coffee Co. would help me clear up this matter, I'd be appreciative. I'm connected to the Hays/Hayes through the sister of George W. and Nevin, Elizabeth Samantha, who married Travis! Zaccheus Hildreth. Any other information on the Hays/Hayes family would be appreciated also. Thanks, Nelda G. Spires marnel@ellijay.com
