She was born December 12, 1925 in Opp, Alabama and moved to Lake Wales in 1947 from Opp. She was a retired peeling machine operator for Citrus World and retail sales clerk. She was a member of West Side Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Hollis and Eula Manring, brother, George Manring, sister, Rebecca Martin, husband, Ray Tarlton, and her son, James Bowden. She is survived by her daughters, Pat Pridgen of Lake Wales, Jeannie Bowden of Winter Haven, Sue Lashley of Apopka, JoEllen (John) Brogdon of Bartow, Yvonne Warren of Lake Wales, Linda Thomas of Lake Wales, and son, Buddy (Diane) Bowden of Lake Wales, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Four stepchildren also survive her. For many years many friends in Lake Wales knew her as Granny. A viewing will be held at the Johnson Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, October 22, 2007, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Mahlon Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery. Memorials of remembrance may be made to Cornerstone Hospice 1285 First Street South, Winter Haven, FL 33880.
