There are records of two marriages and none were to an Elizabeth. He is also listed in the 1860 Georgia census as below: 1860 United States Federal Census about Churchwell Patric Name: Churchwell Patric Age in 1860: 48 Birth Year: abt 1812 Birthplace: North Carolina Home in 1860: District 749, Clay, Georgia Gender: Male Post Office: Fort Gaines Value of real estate: View image Household Members: Name Age Churchwell Patric 48 Elvira Patric 41 Laura E Patric 22 Thomas C Patric 20 Henry H Patric 19 Mary L Patric 17 Purnell C Patric 15 Thresa C Patric 11 Clara Patric 9 Samuel M Patric 8 Johnathan Patric 3 Georgia A Patric 1 The name of his wife and children match with other researcher's trees, as does the age. Why the K is missing off the last name in this census, I do not know, but this is the Pernal line of Churchwell Patrick. So there were two Churchwell Patricks listed in the 1860 census records. One in Georgia and one in Alabama. It is pretty clear that the one in Georgia is the son of Pernal Patrick. I'm still searching from where the one in Alabama is descended from. I believe that he was related in some way to the Pernal line, but I have not found the connection. I think the Alabama Churchwell could have descended from one of Pernal's brothers, either Samuel or James. If your research shows something different, please let me know. Census. There were two Churchwell Patricks about the same time. According to the 1880 Al. census, Churchwell was born about 1820 in N.C. John Patrick was Pernal's father. He had at least two other sons, Samuel and James, I think were their names. The Churchwell name is not that common and I believe that the Churchwell found in the 1860 AL census could be the son of one Pernal's brothers. He could be a cousin to the other Churchwell. The Levi Patrick that was in Alabama in 1860, could also be related to this line in some way. Not much is known about Sanuel and James Patrick. At least I haven't been able to find it yet. Maybe you will have better luck if you get a chance to research them. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I did not know how or where he died until reading your posting. His wife's name was Elizabeth and she was born in 1834 in South Carolina. I further found that Chuchwell is the son of Pernal Patrick - born Nov 4, 1776 in Worcester County, Maryland and died March 25, 1856 in Macon County Georgia. He is buried in a cemetery outside of Macon. Pernal's wife was named Catherine and her grandfather was a full blood Cherokee. She was born May 27, 1788 in Virginia and died May 28, 1855, also in Macon County, Georgia. I believe that Pernal's father was named John Patrick but I could not find out any more. In the letter she wrote that her mother, Mittie Robinson McLelland, said that an Uncle Hose (Hosea sic?) Holley went to town one day and while he was there, his family was killed by his slaves. The slaves were then killed for their crimes. My grandmother's family lived in Coffee & Covington Counties, so it could be either place. The time was not mentioned, but obviously, this was prior to the Civil War. She also mentioned a Dr. Alf Holley who was another cousin of her Uncle Ora McLelland who came to visit him in Brewton, Escambia, Al. As Ora lived in Covington, Al. and possibly Brewton, Escambia, Al. from 1880-1964,it was most likely during that time period.
