Author: jn2tv4 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.alabama.counties.coffee/3273/mb.ashx Message Board Post: GENEALOGY NEWS ALERT Contact: rps@rememberrockford.com CALLING ALL COUSINS DESCENDED FROM FAMILIES OF ROCKFORD, NORTH CAROLINA The Rockford Preservation Society has announced the launch of its 2007 Remember Rockford capital campaign. A major thrust of the campaign is for the village to reconnect with the descendants of families for whom Rockford is an ancestral home. "The campaign offers these descendants a real opportunity to preserve for future generations of their families their heritage and their home," says Ms. Hannah Holyfield, President of the society. "We are going to work with genealogical groups and with ancestry sites on the Internet to reach out to descendants who may have only minimal knowledge about their ancestors' lives here but would like to know more. We plan to contact these descendants and ask them to help us restore the village and then, literally, to come back home." The culmination of the "Remember Rockford" campaign will be a Remember Rockford Families Reunion to be held in 2009. The reunion date will be set in the coming months. Anyone with family ties to Rockford is encouraged to go to rememberrockford.com and register to receive news updates of planned events for the coming months. 3. Pity those who research Smiths.. I'm searching for a Smith who married Redonia Butts just before the War for Southern Independence. She had two children on the 1870 Coffee County, Alabama census and listed herself as a widow. Redonia's parents moved from Barbour County sometimes in the 1860s,where they were on that census, although they were on the 1855 Coffee Census. The Butts family was related to the family of Bryant Smith and wife, Lucy Jane Pittman, through marriage through the Wood and Pittman family. Redonia was last found on the 1910 Coffee census. I believe her Smith husband was killed in the War and I find no evidence that Redonia ever remarried. Any help on this family would be greatly appreciated. ....willie -----Original Message----- >From: "gc-gateway@rootsweb.com" <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> >Sent: Oct 15, 2007 12:59 PM >To: ALCOFFEE-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [ALCOFFEE] William & Mary Smith > >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Author: jhidle1351 >Surnames: Smith, Killingsworth. >Classification: queries > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.alabama.counties.coffee/3272/mb.ashx > >Message Board Post: > >Looking for info on descendants of William & Mary Smith born abt. 1818 in NC and appear in the 1860, 1870 & 1880 Coffee Co. censuses. They were all from Coffee Co. I know there was a Jesse Hurst and an Isaac Hurst, but don't know their relationship to Emaline. Also, I'm looking for information on Hollis A. Hurst. All of them are shown with land purchases during the late 1800's in Coffee Co. Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated. 3. I checked both links on the Coffee County ALGenWeb Project website....both have the same URL as the one sent across the ALCOFFEE mailing list this week. I know the problem was resolved for Christine, but I have also heard that the 2006 Windows Internet Explorer 7 update has glitches which cause some links not to work and some pages to not display properly. I guess Sony will work that out and send us a service pack sooner or later. You take care now..... Phyllis J. K. Her parents were William ADAMS born 1782 in South Carolina and Lucy LOCKHART born 1782 in Georgia. Both died after 1850 probably in Macon County, Alabama. Hope we can make a connection !
