FAMILY GENEALOGY: Friday May 4th. from 10AM until about 4PM will be a time for exchanging information and reviewing family genealogy and history. It will be a great time for you to learn about your ancestors and relatives. Most of us are kinfolk, some more than one way. Also bring your family information to add to our Family Tree Data Base, if you have not already done so. We have a lot of interesting ancestors and relatives in our tree including soldiers from the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Indian Wars, Civil War, etc. We will show you how to get involved with family research. So come and join us for fun and fellowship. Bring your lunch. VISITING PLUS GENEALOGY& EATING: Saturday May 5th from 9 AM until 4PM. We don’t have a formal program scheduled as a group activity. We plan for everyone to be free to visit with friends and relatives and to have time to get acquainted with new relatives that show up. There will be outdoor games for the young and young at heart. Indoors there will be a number of Family Books, Pictures, and Genealogy Information on display that you can review and look through. (You are encouraged to bring your own data to show and review with others). If the Heritage Book is printed by the time of the Reunion we will have copies for you to review and if you are interested in owning one we will have the order information (The Heritage Book is not one of our reunion publications and must be ordered direct from them.). If the Heritage Book is not in print at the time of the Reunion we will have loose leaf note books with many of the sketches Anne and I submitted, plus those of others from our group. We are continuing to seek and to add data and material to our folders for Cemeteries, the Old Mill, Eanon School, Local Churches, etc. So please bring any new data you may have for these. We will be adding to them for years to come and hope to make the data available in book format. FOOD: Saturday May 5th; The main dish will be Bar-B-Que provided by the White Family. We request that each family attending bring a side dish & salad or desert. Also bring ice tea. There will be plenty of food for all and everyone is encouraged to come and have a good time of fellowship and eating together. OTHER NEEDS: This is a community reunion and it is conducted entirely by volunteer effort and contributions. We need more people to help with the planning and execution of the reunion. Perhaps you may have some new ideas for consideration. Contact me or Anne Hood for information on how you can help. This invitation letter does not reach everyone and there are others that may not receive a direct invitation who would like to attend if they knew about the reunion. Feel free to invite those whom you think would be interested in seeing old friends and/or relatives; or those with an interest in meeting their ‘cousins’, maybe for the first time. This is an open Community-Extended Family reunion for those with roots or family ties to the Pea River Community of folks. If you need information and/or directions, or wish to ask how to get involved, please e-mail me at Jwhite2mill@JUNO.com, or Anne Hood at ahood@juno.com. See You there. 1. [ALCOFFEE] Byrd , Green
2. Hi All, Joe said it was ok to post this to the list, Very little can be found on Green Byrd. Good luck to all In 1994 a cousin and myself put together a book on the branch of Byrds that came to Texas, my line of descendants are John Mitchell Fountain,Ollie Elizabeth Byrd, some spelled it Bird, James Mitchell Byrd, Green Byrd, John Byrd, a Revolutionary war soldier that came to Dale co. Al. and died there, John Byrd, William Byrd, John Byrd , who was born about 1670 Va. died in Chowan co. NC. His father was John but I have never been able to fin the next one in line. Now all I have to go on is that I found a pension application on Green Byrd where he fought in the Creek Indian War. He said he was born in 1806 July 4, in Emanuel co. Ga. Now there is only one Byrd in Emanuel Co. Ga. in 1810 or in this time frame, John Byrd, he came into Dale co. Al. Not much on him but it appears he was living with a daughter. Isham Byrd was a brother to Green as best as we could tell, we think one of the sisters married an Ard. All generations are proven except John to Green. Ruth White of Virgina Beach, Va. hired a professional to find all he could on John Byrd, she wanted to join the daughters of the Americian revolution. through him. There is a pension on him he fought 21/2 years. Back to Green Byrd he married Mary Ann Archer Jones widow Of Gideon Jones in 1849 Dale co. Al. He was pretty old when he married. They had James MItchell Byrd and Narcissus Byrd who married William Washington Watson. Mary died and in 1879 Nov.13 Green Byrd marrried Nancy Caroline Holloway. He came to Texas in about 1883-84. Green died 7 Feb. 1893 and is buried in Salem cem. Shelby co. Texas. He has a tomb stone. but it is old and broken. We need to put another one at his grave. Green married Nancy Holloway in Coffee co. There is much more but I'am not very good at typing. Maybe this will help if you can fill in any blanks on Ards, I think the Windhams were close to Green Byrd. The pension on him tells alot about him it had been there 150 years? before I found it. Joe Fountain I forgot to tell you John Byrd was thought to have married 2 times, the second was Elizabeth Neal, the only thing I have to go on here is Ruth White said some old papers were found in the courthouse or some place where records were kept in emanuel co. ga.I haven't seen these, they were to having someone to look over them and then record them. I would like to know if they ever did put them out for the public. John was suppose to have been going back and forth from SC to Ga. maybe selling cows. Joe In a message dated 3/25/01 6:50:37 PM Eastern Standard Time, fountainb@hotmail.com writes: Green Byrd marrried Nancy Caroline Holloway. He came to Texas in about 1883-84. Green died 7 Feb. 1893 and is buried in Salem cem. Shelby co. Texas my reply CGT Hi , Thanks for the info, i seen the census 1880 today and found this on Green Bird, age 63 , it has b Al, parents B Al also, but than you know how that goes, below where no name was it had Ga, SC Sc, AND I DID NOT GET THE page # either, Mark Grace is putting the Dale Census 1880 online and the pages have to be between 563d(has Alex Byrd, 578 A has David byrd, Curtis Byrd Bert Byrd, could be past 587b, it takes awhile for aol to open the pages, Index of /~jmg12/Census Christine Grimes Thacker
