I have not researched the AL Turners, but some time ago while researching my Turners in Southampton Co, VA and in NC (including Johnston Co), I found that a number of related Turner folk came to AL. Not all of the AL Turners came from there, of course, but you might want to look to Southhampton and Isle of Wight, VA as possible sources of your Turners - Especially if you have Sugars, Blunt, or Ridley as names in your Turner line. Griffin or a Ely Lee Howard? Child of William Griffin and his wife who was an UNKNOWN Cherokee Indian: Madie Elizabeth Griffin b. 1876 in Coffee, County Alabama and died 1914. They resided in Coffee County from about 1865 till their death. Snowden's brother Frosten also resided in Coffee County and died in Jack Al. I believe that they are buried in the Hopewell Cemetery near Henderson. Has anyone out there done a census of that cemetery and can provide the headstone data? Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have the family for Thurston Wesley, Jack May, brother of Leila ,(owned a grocery store in Chancellor. His son-in-law has one now in the area. I am trying to find Minnie Maude, John, and Annie's family. George Washington May was their father and I think James May was his father. Might have been from Pike County, or Russell, AL near Auburn.

I am looking for any data/records that will help determine the following: 1. Was Penelope first married to John Corley or Cooley, and which last name is correct? Also, was John an Indian Scout for the US Government and killed in that capacity. 2. Was Louisa Corley or Cooley, age 17, the birth child of Penelope and John? Also, I would like any additional information about Louisa. 3. Was Alfred a Corley, Cooley or Lolley? 4. Were all the remaining children in this household Lolley's? Both my James Lorenzo Manning and Wade Hampton Manning were sons of Wm. Hampton Manning b. 1800 in NC. and Nancy Deason b. 1825; we have been searching for many years to learn the father & mother of Wm. Hampton Manning.(not the judge whose initials were the same).
