    1. [ALCOFFEE] PRHGS Trails INDEX
    2. Willie
    3. Sent: Sunday, June 24, 2001 4:22 PM Subject: PRHGS Trails INDEX Folks! The recent Spring 2001 issue of the FREE (with $15.00 annual subscription) quarterly magazine, Pea River Trails, published by the Pea River Historical and Genealogical Society of Enterprise, Alabama, has the first ever index of all the issues of the magazine dating from the first one in 1975 through the year 2000. The issue lists all the articles and family names in alphabetical order for that 25 year period. This monentous task of compiling this index was done by the new Society President, Mr. Louie Reynolds, and he deserves many attaboys for his efforts. The issue may be ordered for $5.00, including shipping and handling, but for just $15.00 one can have that issue PLUS 3 more issues this year shipping and handling included. Each issue is packed with genealogical and historical information by the new editor, Mrs. Lanell Hundley (lanell@alaweb.com), who works extremely hard to help us southeast Alabama researchers gather information on our Alabama kin. Also included in this Spring 2001 issue is the complete listing of the 1907 census of Confederate Soldiers living in Geneva County, Alabama which was edited by the well-known authourity on Alabama CW soldiers, Homer T. Jones. Included also is a marvelous article on The First School at Farmers Academy Community in Coffee County. It seems hard to believe that the annual membership is so cheap! I pay my membership 3 years at a time to lock in those ridiculously low prices. If some one wishes to be part of this wonderful Society the address to join is; Pea River Historical and Genealogical Society P.O. Box 310628 108 Main Street Enterprise, Al. 36331 An extremely satisfied member; Willie in California

    1. [ALCOFFEE] 1948 Mullins Reunion
    2. Will send the list of names seperate from this. 1948 Mullins Reunion 259 Descendants of Mullins Family Hold 40th Reunion At Providence. The Fortieth annual reunion of the Mullins families was held at Providence Church, near Clay hatchee, on the Dothan-Enterprise highway, Sunday, July 4. Prior to that time, many gathering had been held by the descendants of the late Louis Mullins and his wife Catherine Gipson Mullins, who came to Alabama and settled in Dale County about the year 1850. The old family records show that a family reunion was held on July 4, 1866 and again in 1867. Than in 1908, the nine living children of Louis and Catherine MULLINS assembled at Waterford for the big reunion of the 10 large families. According to the enjoyment displayed by all those present Sunday, this was the best reunion held yet. Approximately 300 persons registered, and Mr. L.E.Wells, of ozark, who was in charge of the register, stated that there were scores of people, who did not register, he was certain. Upon arrival, the families gathered at the church, where a warm welcome was extended by the pastor. "America" was sung, after which Mr. WELLS introduced Mr. Walter MULLINS of Tatum, Texas, who made a most interesting talk. He stated that he and his sister were present at the reunion ten years ago and they hoped to attend many more. Mr Roy MULLINS, the son of Mr. And Mrs John MULLINS, came all the way from Campbell, California, bringing his wife to meet his relatives, most of whom he had not seen in fifty years. Mrs Vita Byrd WINDHAM brought with her a lovely lace scarf, which her grandmother, who was born in 1819, had worn to Church. It was in good condition, having been well cared for and there was a bit of sentiment attached to the possession of such a valuable heirloom. Mrs Della GRIMES is the only living member of the first group. She celebrated her 86th birthday in April and was present on Sunday to greet her relatives and many friends.Even at this fine old age, she was the same smiling, alert person she had always been. Age seemed but to add graciousness and joy to her manner. There is still living one "in-law" of the older group--"Aunt Becky", the widow of Sampson Q. MULLINS, but she was unale to attend. She now makes her home in Chipley , Fla., with her son.(She died 9/16/1948 age 85. CGT). There have been two deaths in the family group since the last reunion held in 1947: Frank MULLINS, of Newton, who died June,18, 1948 and his mother, "Aunt Mollie" (Hazie) MULLINS, also of Newton, who passed away on Dec. 22, 1947. At the close of the service, in a gesture of appreciation to the Providence Church, a nice offering was taken and a purse of $40.00 was presented to the Church by the members of the visiting families. At the noon hour, a bountiful repast was spread on tables built under the trees, and near the flowing well. One vistor said that the tables were not sufficient to hold all the good food prepared and served to guests. After a prayer of thanks, the delightful meal was enjoyed. The afternoon was spent in reminiscing and visiting the family groups. Visitors, not numbered in the family lists, came from Enterprise, Dothan, Hartford, Samson, Ozark, Newton, and other places to join in the celabration. It was interesting to note that seven states besides the State of Alabama, were represented in the attendance. Those attending were: Christine Grimes Thacker
