    3. She took time off last year to get married, but I saw an e-mail from her recently that indicated she expected to be back on-line this fall thanks to some help. I think her site had gotten enormously hard to maintain from a time and money perspective. --- Newlakehome@aol.com wrote: > Does anyone know what happened to Lisa Franklin's > site? > Patty > > > ============================== > Visit Ancestry.com for a FREE 14-Day Trial and enjoy > access to the #1 > Source for Family History Online. 1. [ALCOFFEE] Reply from Heritage Book Publisher's Wife
    2. Phyllis Jeannae Kwanja Owen
    3. Here is my reply from Alice Bice, wife of the Publisher of our Heritage Book: Phyllis, Thank you so much for your concern. Our family is holding on with prayers. David's prostate cancer is considered either killed or stunted after the radiation and the doctor is giving him a normal life expectancy now. Our daughter-in-law in Wisconsin, Sonya, who has the lukemia is still under going her maintenance chemo through Jan. 14, 2002. After that time we are in a wait and see mode, hopefully and prayerfully that it will remain in remission. She and our son, Danny, have 3 of our grandchildren (ages 8, 6, & 5) and definitely have their hands full. We are trying to leave it in God's hands, but sometimes we fail, but keep pressing on knowing He is in control. Our other daughter-in-law in WV who had the gall stone over in the pancreas has a small cyst on her pancreas and is a little concerned about that. The doctor is waiting a few weeks to do another ultrasound to see if it has increased or decreased in size to determine the next step. It does get over whelming sometimes, but we are in God's Hands and we just have to remind our selves of this daily. Now, about work. The committee will be receiving the last of the proofs this weekend. It is moving right along. We estimate the book being out early Fall of this year. If you get people who are upset, send them to me either by email or by our 800 number. 1-800-568-1611. Thanks for handling this for us. Alice Bice

    3. Connie I just don't know enough about the family to make any connection. I did find this on Ancestry.com: Rosanna Yawn Dale Co., Al. Page 189 Newton P.O. Seaborn Yawn Dale Co., Al. Page 189 Newton P.O. Perry Yawn Dale Co., Al. Page 190 Newton P.O. J.A. Yawn Dale Co., Al. Page 190 Newton P.O. Yawn is another of the many different spellings I have found on some of the YOHN_YON_YONE records. I know this is our Rosanna Yon because on another census her children were listed. Since they are all from the same area, I feel sure they are kin. My husband's father was Thomas Perry Yohn and I wonder if he could have been named after this Perry Yon. So many unanswered questions. I would appreciate any information on the Yon family that you might have. Thanks Alma chriswon wrote: > Alma, > > I was reading your information about your Yon/Yohn line. My great-grandmother was Julie Ann Elizabeth Yon (1866-1957), daughter of Seaborn Yon and Betsy Cochran. I believe that she was from the Coffee/Geneva Counties area, or possibly the Walton/Holmes Counties area in Florida. Do you think that this might be part of your line? 3. Hi all, >From the Ancestry.Com list of Alabama Deaths 1908-59, I have several RUDD's whose names appear in Coffee County for which I would like to obtain a copy of a death certificate simply to obtain information such as parentage, etc. Does anyone know of a way to obtain a "non-certified" copy of such documents without having to go through the process of writing to Vital Records and pay them $12 per certified copy? That would get very expensive just to find out basic data. I know here in Washington, DC, one can go to the DC Archives and pull actual death certificates and make xerox copies of them on the spot or they will make the copies and mail them to you given enough time. It is much cheaper than going through vital records. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Harry Rudd Bowie, Md

    2. Phyllis Jeannae Kwanja Owen
    3. Hello All, Today I received communication from one of our Coffee County researchers who is not on our list which concerned the Heritage of Coffee County, AL book that is at the publishers. The book is nearing completion from what I saw when I visited the website for the publisher. Below please find a copy of my letter to the party concerning where the book's progress is at the moment. There are directions and links there to the publishers site, if you would like to peruse and check on it yourself. I thought I would send this out for those of you who might like to check on it yourself........ Thank you for your time. Phyllis J. K. A few days ago, I was scrolling down through the Rootsweb e-magazine, and noticed there the Heritage >Book site, so I decided to send them a message, and inquire about the Coffee County Heritage Book, to which I contributed >and am eagerly looking forward to. Well! They had never heard of the Coffee County Heritage Book, and even deny that >they are the publisher. Am I wrong--dead wrong?? Right now I am pinching myself, and don't know what to think. Could >you provide me a little insight on this matter. Right now, I am not subscribing to the Coffee County list. > Thanks a million, > "Sender" ++++++++ Hello Again, I could not find a link anywhere on the CCAP site. I deleted all links to the Heritage Book of Coffee County project webpage when the book went to the publisher. There is only a front page mention on the CCAP site now that tells that the work has been submitted to the publisher as of January. However, I did find a link referenced to the book on the Pea River Historical and Genealogical Society website...but it was an incomplete link. So, I have searched around until I have found the site of the publisher.....you can visit by following this link: http://www.countyheritagebooks.com/ On this site, click on the COUNTY BOOKS: STATUS & ORDER link on the far left of the page..... On this next page, click on the shape of Alabma on the map..... On this next page, click on Heritage Publishing Consultants' CLICK HERE...... On the next page, go to a link on the far right side of the HPC page called NEWS..... On the next page, you will see after scrolling down that the Coffee County Heritage Book has made it through the Typesetting, Layout and Indexing stages.....last stage which it IS in NOW is Manuscript....this is when book actually is being prepared for total assembly to be ready for delivery. My opinion is that we can be expecting our finished books any time now........of course, this is my personal opinion after looking at the site info mentioned above...I am no publisher by any means. As for who you wrote to, I have no idea who you wrote to. I just wrote to Mr. Bice and am awaiting his reply.....I will be glad to forward you a copy when I receive his reply. Well, I searched it down, and I hope that you find some relief in what I found. But, I will tell you that I am the proud and happy owner of the book "Heritage of Morgan County, AL" that Mr. Bice with Heritage Publishing Consultants published for my home county. It is a wonderful book...so full of information and pictures..... Matter of fact, our homefolk are so proud of our heritage and ancestry that our book has turned out to thusfar be the largest book published in the state of Alabama with 945 pages!! If I may be of any further help to you, please do not hesitate to contact me at kwanja@alaweb.com Fare thee well..... Sincerely, Phyllis J. K. Owens

    2. Alma Yohn
    3. Christine I know so little about my husbands ancestors that I can't be certain some others did not move to Texas. I do know that his immediate family is not aware of any relatives here. I have found a lot of Yons in Florida. My husband's grandfather Thomas Derrell Yohn was born in Holmes Co., Fl., he married Julia Easter Hornsby in Coffee Co., Al. and his children Thomas Perry Yohn and Era Mae Yohn Rachels Gardner were born there. Also, there are many Yons in South Carolina. I found the following article taken from the South Carolinian: The State of South Carolina, Orangeburg District, Jesse Yon applicant against ISAAC YON and other defendants. It appears that Isaac Yon, John Yon, the children of Henry Varnido, the children of Joseph Yon and Jesse Yon son of Martin Yon, defendants, reside without this state; It is therefore ordered that they do appear and object to the division or sale of the real estate of Rachael Yon, deceased. Ordinary's Office August 28,1846, S. Glover, O.O.D. I would love to think that this Isaac Yon is my husband's ggrandfather and these are some of his kin, but I just can't get enough information to know. Do any of these names sound familiar to you? Alma

Isaac O. died during the Civil War, and Rosannah was assassinated in Dale Co. Al. Sorry I couldn't have been more help. Alma
