Could you tell me if Elizabeth was born an Adams or married an Adams. I know she was related some way to the Adams family. She was also a Lewis. I don't know if she was born a Lewis or married a Lewis before she married Gilbert Matthews. She is my Great Great Grandmother. She named her children, Lucretia Rebecca, Benjamin Jacob and Ula T. C. ( Axie ) who married my Great Grandfather, George Clayton Vanlandingham or ( Landingham)as he shortened it at some time. Thank you, Nadine Landingham Farris. farfarms@snowhill.com

Elizabeth Sherman 1841 in Stewart Co. Ga. d. 1889 in Ga. His son Zachariah Taylor Harrison, Sr. and Junior both were in Dale and Henry Co. Alabama. I have information on the WARR family that I believe you are referring to. Did Blondell have a sister named Gladys? If so, they were children of Warren J. Warr and Ellie Thomas Warr. Ellie was Warren's 1st wife, he later married Lilli Elentar Lolley. Warren was the son of John Warr and his 2nd wife Alice Stokes. Let me know if any of this information fits, I'll be happy to exchange info with you. -----Original Message----- From: gmoore418@hotmail.com [mailto:gmoore418@hotmail.com] Sent: Monday, July 23, 2001 9:24 PM To: ALCOFFEE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ALCOFFEE] Warr and Johnson families I need any information on these two families. Looking for a family connection to James Edward Whitehead better know as J. Ed Whitehead who married Mary or Sarah Ellen Griggs from Dale County in the 1890's. They resided in Geneva County until her death in 1907. Any info about the Whitehead's would be appreciated.

Hello, I am trying to find any of my McGilvray's in Covington County. They were among the first settlers of Florida and are listed in the pioneers of Florida Archives. Neil McGilberry b ca 1770 m. Mary Unknown b ca 1780 NC and they had Elizabeth b 1812 SC, Alexander b 1818 SC, Mary b 1820 SC. They were enumerated on the 1830 census of Walton Co. FL., and on the 1840 census, where at that time the surname was McGilvery. By 1850 Neill was gone and Alexander was the head of the household. Included in the census were his mother Mary and his 2 sisters. Now the surname was McGilvray. By 1860 Alexander had m Nancy Kimbrel daughter of Silas and Elizabeth Lee. They had Neal b 1852 FL, Sarah b 1854 FL, John b 1856 FL, Mary E. b 1860 and along with theses was Elizabeth Lee 61 years of age. By 1865 there were additional children, Daniel b 1865 Fl and William b 1868. The two sister of Alexander were enumerated in a different household. I find them in Walton until 1885 where at that time they have a family consisting of McLean brothers and sisters. Also, I have a bill of sale from the school board of Walton Co, to which land was sold to Mary McGilvray. Now in 1880 Nancy McGilvra as it is on the census is in Pike Co along with her children Neal, Sarah E., Mary E., it says David but it was Daniel, William, and Katie. I find no more of them in Pike. However by 1900 I find my great grandfather Daniel in Covington with his wife Ida Marsh McGilvra b 1875 ALA daughter of Alexander Marsh and Granddaughter of Needhom Marsh, the children, Jesse Lee b 1893, Alice b 1895, Matta b 1898. Now Ida dies in 1906, by 1910 Daniel and children are in dale Co. with 2 additional children from Ida and himself J.D. McGilvray (name change again) b 1901, and Arrie B. b 1904. In 1913 Daniel dies of Bowel troubles. My sister of 42 dies of Chrones disease last month. It is hereditary. He dies in Babbie. I do not find any more on him. All that I know is Alice my Grandmother m. George Allman in 1914 in Enterprise where she was born. And they moved to Florida. Now what I am trying to find is....where are the rest of Alexanders and Nancy's children? I know that Neal McGilvra (Daniels brother) m Mary Danforth in Barbour Co. I am trying to find the rest and what happened to their Mother Nancy? Any help at all would be deeply appreciated. Patty

Hi All this was sent to the Dale Co., Al. mailing list, for those of you that have roots in Al, this is a very good site, it has been offline for awhile , but now back on Good luck to all Lisa R. Franklin http://frontpage.home.com/trackingyourroots/ This is the new addy. Try it out. Pass it around. However, please realize that I am aware that there are a LOT of kinks and links to nowhere (these are the ones I'll have to post under other user names and link to from the main one, above). The egroups are largely intact, but a few aren't functioning any longer. I recreated the covington county group. Please spread the word about that. Lisa Christine Grimes Thacker
