It will be something that every citizen will almost have to have. Editor So here is at least some evidence that there is/was a map of Coffee Co. that was made by the same man that made the 1908 Pike map that lists the homesites of several hundred people. Somebody just needs to find it and pass along the information on how to get a copy.

Would appreciate any info you have on his parents. My dtr in law is descendant of Alfred's son Andrew Jackson Hudson who died in Tulip,Dallas Co.Ark in 1920. Andrew married Letta Futch and I am also interested in the Futch family also found in Coffee Co Al 1850 census, i.e. James and Mary Futch on pg 278. They were also b in NC in 1805 and 1810 respectively. Apparently these two families traveled together from NC to GA and thence to AL.

Sarah's husband (Edward Moore Hewitt) died in 1851 in Stewart Co., GA. Your Julia may have been a niece or cousin. I don't have any other information on the Grants, other than William, Stephen, and Sarah were siblings. Family legend says they were related to U.S. Grant, but then again apparently everybody with the name of Grant was related to him!! Sorry, that's all the info I have.
I suggest everyone read Dear Myrtle's column regarding the research site posted regarding Coffee County before you adventure too far. The column is entitled Problem: Spam and a Bad Website and it can be accessed at dearmyrtle.com.

I didn't know where to look and happened upon a marriage record in Coffee County, AL for J.M. Homes and Julia Grant 2/5/1888. I think this is my gg grandparents. Info I have is: Julia Grant married James "Allen" Holmes My g gm, their daughter, Sarah Lodella's (Snell) death certificate states she was born in Coffee County, GA, but I don't think this is right and James middle name could be wrong on it too. Julia and James had 9 children that I have found out about from my great aunt. I'll give you those names if you like. Do you have a Julia Grant anywhere in your family? Thanks, Gale
