    3. I will have to inquire as to the name of the cemetery. It appears to be an abandoned cemetery by the looks....what a shame too. Oh, Pat, I meant to write to you last night but got tied up working on websites. But..... Your marker for Ms. DeShazo is in place!!!! Cindy placed it herself and told me yesterday to let you know. Congratulations!! I will ride by there and make pictures for you. Phyllis J. K. Owens Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Dark Hershey's Chocolate Bar, chocolate-peanut clusters, and Hershey's kisses in one hand, Pepsi, moon pies, peanut butter and all the Beich banana kisses one can hold in the other hand, chewing Wrigley's Juicy Fruit gum, body throughly worn out and screaming happily "WooHooo! 3. We definitely coulda used more hands, so next time there's a cemetery to clean off, I hope some of you folks who live here will come help. It's a lot of work, but we also had a good time. At least I did. <g> This is the cemetery we cleaned -- http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/al/coffee/cemeteries/mcgee.txt As you can see, most of these markers date from before 1860. We found all of the markers that were extant in the 1974 survey. This is the family of John McGee, brother of Alfred (the McGee cemetery on 246 is where Alfred and some of his family are buried). I don't know if John has any living descendants -- 6 of his 9 children are buried with him. If there's anybody out there of John's line, I'd like to hear from you. He did have a son William who was alive in 1880. Three sons of John Cornelius McGee came to Coffee Co. from Harris Co., Georgia in the late 1840s/early 1850s -- John, Alfred, and Milton. Milton married Elizabeth Fleming (another Harris Co to Coffee Co family). He died young, Elizabeth remarried and went to Texas. Their descendants are out there. There are a good many descendants of Alfred's line still in Coffee Co. Georgia Fleming Enterprise [email protected]

    2. Phyllis Jeannae Kwanja Owens
    3. Hello all, Thanks to Mr. JD Bedsole, we now have a full transcription of the Rhoades Cemetery of the Perry Store community!! My sincere gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Bedsole for mounting and accomplishing this large task. There is now a link under Cemeteries on the CCAP site. If you wish to go directly to the page, it is located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~alcoffee/rhoadescem.html Again, Mr. Bedsole, "thank you". *smiles* Now, I have a question.....my curiosity is tweaked....listed on the new Rhoades Cemetery page is "Eubanks, G.D. 10/3/1878 - 8/4/1919 Eubanks, Charles Newton (same grave as G.D. Eubanks) 10/3/1878 - 8/5/1919" Are these twins who were born the same date and died within a day of each other nearly 41 years later? Does anyone know? Again, I am just curious. I have two incidents in my family something like this. My great great grandmother died and her daughter died within less than 24 hours. And I have a great aunt who died and her son fell dead two hours later. A strange side to the story on my great great grandmother is that she and her daughter were buried in the same casket. Her daughter was an old maid about sixty at the time, and was a Mama's girl...never left her mother's side. So they buried them in death as they were in life...side by side and inseparable. This would never be allowed today, I suppose. My grandmother remembers the funeral. She said she had never seen anything like the funeral, nor has she since. I would once again like to remind everyone who does transcription work to be on the watch for spiders and snakes while out in those cemeteries transcribing them. If anyone knows about the Eubanks query above, I am curious and interested in the answer. Again, enjoy the Rhoades Cemetery listing that Mr. Bedsole was so kind to get out and work for us. And, Mr. Bedsole, we sure do appreciate your work. Thank you. Take care now, all...... Phyllis J. K.
