Actually, we clean the day before Decoration Day so it is nice for all to visit when they bring new flowers. Do all areas do this? I know they use to do this in Dale Co., sure they did it in Coffee also, . while reading some of the Old Newspaper (Southern Star), i would come across the Clean up dates for certain Cemeteries :-) Also I Got a hold of the Man who does the restoring of tombstones, and he sounded like he would come down and do it with help from someone in the area, he is having a back operation some time this year, so i did not come right out and ask him because of his back, he lives on the other side of Atlanta and that is a pretty good drive for him. 3. Thank you Mr. Bedsole for transcribing the Rhodes Cemetery and thank you Phyllis for posting it. I have some additional information about some of the people buried there, maybe it will help someone out there: COON, Snodie W. was Snodie Wilson COON - son of John A. Coon & Lucinda McPherson (John A. Coon was son of Henry Lewis Coon & Nancy Catherine Mancil, Henry Lewis Coon was son of John M. Coon & Sarah Hudson, John M. Coon was son of Henry L. Coon & Amelia Ann Pinson, Henry L. Coon was son of John Henry Coon & Unknown). COON, Mervis D. is Mervis Willie Daugherty, wife of Snodie Wilson COON. DEAN, James Perry was the son of Samual Thomas "Sambo" Dean & Sarah Ann Carr (Samual Thomas Dean was the son of Francis Marion "Doc" Dean & Martha Elvira Wesley, Francis Marion Dean was the son of Abner Thomas Dean & Mary Catherine Sheffield, Abner Thomas Dean was the son of Jesse R. Dean & Rebecca Smith). DEAN, Mary Lou was Mary Lou CLARK, the wife of James Perry Dean and the daughter of George Washington Clark & Susan M. Cook. EDWARDS, Hubert Renzyle is husband of Susie DEAN Edwards and son of Wilton Edwards & Jessie Bell Allen. EDWARDS, Susie DEAN is the wife of Hubert Renzyle Edwards and the daughter of James Perry Dean & Mary Lou Clark. MATHEWS, Jesse Lee was Jesse Lee Hampton Lewis Mathews - son of Seaborn Jasper Mathews & Wealthia Anna Alice Pearlie Warr. MATHEWS, Carrie Lee was Carrie Lee Fleming, wife of Jesse Lee Mathews. Thanks again from Shelby in Florida ----- Original Message ----- From: Phyllis Jeannae Kwanja Owens To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, April 18, 2005 12:57 PM Subject: Rhoades Cemetery Hello all, Thanks to Mr. JD Bedsole, we now have a full transcription of the Rhoades Cemetery of the Perry Store community!! My sincere gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Bedsole for mounting and accomplishing this large task. There is now a link under Cemeteries on the CCAP site. If you wish to go directly to the page, it is located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~alcoffee/rhoadescem.html Again, Mr. Bedsole, "thank you". *smiles* Now, I have a question.....my curiosity is tweaked....listed on the new Rhoades Cemetery page is "Eubanks, G.D. 10/3/1878 - 8/4/1919 Eubanks, Charles Newton (same grave as G.D. Eubanks) 10/3/1878 - 8/5/1919" Are these twins who were born the same date and died within a day of each other nearly 41 years later? Does anyone know? Again, I am just curious. I have two incidents in my family something like this. My great great grandmother died and her daughter died within less than 24 hours. And I have a great aunt who died and her son fell dead two hours later. A strange side to the story on my great great grandmother is that she and her daughter were buried in the same casket. Her daughter was an old maid about sixty at the time, and was a Mama's girl...never left her mother's side. So they buried them in death as they were in life...side by side and inseparable. This would never be allowed today, I suppose. My grandmother remembers the funeral. She said she had never seen anything like the funeral, nor has she since. I would once again like to remind everyone who does transcription work to be on the watch for spiders and snakes while out in those cemeteries transcribing them. If anyone knows about the Eubanks query above, I am curious and interested in the answer. Again, enjoy the Rhoades Cemetery listing that Mr. Bedsole was so kind to get out and work for us. And, Mr. Bedsole, we sure do appreciate your work. Thank you. Take care now, all...... Phyllis J. K. 3. Thank you kindly for that info, Georgia. And my sincere thank you for helping with the McGee Cemetery. Phyllis J. K. Owens Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Dark Hershey's Chocolate Bar, chocolate-peanut clusters, and Hershey's kisses in one hand, Pepsi, moon pies, peanut butter and all the Beich banana kisses one can hold in the other hand, chewing Wrigley's Juicy Fruit gum, body throughly worn out and screaming happily "WooHooo! 3. And yes, some help from Boy Scouts or other groups, and announcements in church and organization bulletins WOULD be most helpful!! Thank you for that idea, Pat. Phyllis J. K.
