He was in the 1830 census and he was a Baptist minister in Sumter and Schley counties. He migrated through the years to AL, where he died. I am actually trying to find his father Philip born approx 1780. Also any info on his son Philip G. Belcher & wife Elizabeth Ann Martin and their son George Belcher & wife Susie. All were in Barbour, Coffee, and Dale Counties. Any info would be great, thanks Brenda

I've found that he's the son of William M Blalock and Lucretia Jane Wadsworth and born in Coffee CO, AL. William M Blalock is the brother of my direct ancestor, my ggg-grandfather Charles S Blalock, who died in the Civil War. Your Robert Edward has a WW1 draft card on record here at this site. Robert ended up in Geneva CO after 1910 and lived near his brother Willam B and his other Blalock cousins. All our Blalocks originated in NC, likely Cumberland CO, and began in Henry CO AL. William M Blalock was married twice, both marriages in Henry CO, AL: first to Elizabeth Pitts--2 children--John Wesley Blalock and Nancy Malinda Blalock. Second marriage was to Lucretia Jane Wadsworth and they had William Benjamin Blalock in 1868, Robert E, Ora E, and Rosa. William married Nannie Dozier, Rosa married JC Davis and I don't know what became of Ora E Blalock. That's pretty much all I have on your Blalock connection..hope it helps. Good luck :)

I show John William Spurlin's wife as Martha Mary C. Maddox, b. 6 Feb 1863, d. 6 Dec 19445, the daughter of Matthew and Martha [Bowden] Maddox. Her death certificate suggested that the C. probably stood for Catherine. I don't think John Spurlin died until 1924, and they were supposedly still having children through about 1905, so I don't see how this Martha Mary could have married a J. B. Vaughn, Jr. in 1899. Appreciate corrections and clarification on this. W. Smith Tarpon Springs, FL

I don't know a whole lot about him yet. I am pretty sure that he was the son of Benjamin B. Howell and first wife Caroline Woods, son of Marmaduke Howell and Nancy Regan, son of Ralph Howell and Dicey Barfield. Some researchers try to connect him to Benjamin's brother Daniel, but Daniel and his sons moved to Florida after the Civil War and James M. stayed in Alabama. He married Frances Saphronia McCarty Averett after the War and they had three sons, Mack, Mark and my great grandfather John Simon Jeter Howell. He is buried next to Saphronia in the Averett Cemetery, but his grave is unmarked. One of their great granddaughters, Patricia Ann Howell, who died very young is also buried next to them also in an unmarked grave. -----Original Message----- From: Kathlyn Folmar [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, August 28, 2005 1:33 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ALCOFFEE] Cemetery of Marion Francis Averett & Mary Frances Safronia McCarty This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --=_Part_73979bb8$e5cc$42f7$a310$bef2fd93f1dc Content-Type: text/plain I have some James Howell's in my background.
