Tryin to locate anything on Silla Hodge born around 1863 died in Coffee co Alabama in Feb. 1938 cannot find anything on her in cemeteries listed . I found the listing in death index in ancestry but not sure it is her it lists her as Silln Hodge but i think that is a misprint indexed wrong. Does anyone have lising of a Silla Hodge in any cemetery. Also does anyone know if Elba would have a listing of her death in the newspapers an where can i find listing an what the cost would be . I am not in the state of Alabama. thanks so much Phyllis
Tom, NO, attachment was forwarded to me on the Aplin's that Rupert has. I sure would like to see that data. There is also Maggie Highsmith over on the other side of Dothan, AL that is doing the Aplin line too. Maybe something will come out of this. We have one other Aplin researcher down here in Lower Alabama, that once we have something, I will mail it to him to see if there is any connection. There seems to be some discrepancies about Tillman's descendants. His obituary (newspaper unknown): "Enterprise - Tillman Elias Rudd, 74, died at his home yesterday morning in Enterprise. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm today at the West View Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Enterprise City Cemetery with Searcy's Brown Service Funeral Home directing. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs Essie Mae Lott, Jacksonville, Fla; four sons, Orman and Grady Rudd, both of Jacksonville, Charles Rudd of Opp, and Ronald Rudd, Enterprise; his mother, Mrs. Emma Rudd, Mobile; a sister, Mrs. Mollie Belle Parker, Mobile; a brother, Lex Rudd, Ponce de Leon, Fla; six grandchildren and one great grandchild." Comments from this researcher: This obit is the only appearance of a child named Ronald as this name does not appear in any census records. "Essie" in the obit is obviously Mollie so this is probably an error on the person supplying the obit data. "Lex" in the obit is his brother Alexis Lee Rudd, Sr. I also have in my notes that he married again to a Mary Martha Walls some time after 1945 so I have to assume there was a divorce from Pamelia but I have no proof of either event. When Orman died April 7, 2001 in Jacksonville, Florida, his obit only mentions a wife, Erma and a brother, Grady surviving him so it appears that Orman and Erma had no children. I would be happy to try to answer other questions about the Minor Rudd family if the person asking the question would like to contact me directly. -------------- Original message -------------- From: "Lavista" <lavista@comcast.net> > Descendants of Tillman Elias Rudd > > Generation No. 1 > > > 1. Good Afternoon, I need help on a couple of Aplin's located in SE Alabama. Ruth Matilda APLIN who married J. P. BRUCE. They were probably born in the late teens or early 1920's. and Ramona APLIN who married Charles Oneal THARPE. They were born about 1933. He was born in Dale County and died June 24, 1985 and I have no additional information. Any help would certainly be appreciated ! Have a great weekend !!
