I'm related to the DAVIDSON line that are buried in Oak Level United Methodist Church Cemetery located at Cleburne County 49 & 55. My wife & I try to get up there, from Louisiana, about every two years to place flowers on and weed eat, when the cemetery is not mowed, about 20 DAVIDSON graves including my great grandfather, William Frederick DAVIDSON, and his parents, Eliab Frederick Allen DAVIDSON and his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Quinn DAVIDSON. Would love to make contact with any cousins still in the area. Bill Holly 500 Holly-Moore Drive Pineville, LA 71360 billsfamilytree@hotmail.com 318-640-6615

Hello there Judy I'm pretty sure we've been touch before because My gg grandfather was William Christopher White. Weren't they the ones that died from the flu or pneumonia...William, his son Henry and wife all died within days of each other. I didn't know they were prominent...however....there tombstones seem to reflect that when I visited them. Does the church have any OLD records of this family? Do you have any pictures of them, you mentioned a picture of a home. I'd love to see. Also, are any of you on FAMILYSEARCH.org? I'm also related these names who all came from GA to Cleburne & Randolph Counties: Burrell S. MESSER, 1833-1919(father unknown from GA, mother Elizabeth 1792 (unkn maiden name) 1809) married to Clementine KENT, father Ed KENT 1812-1880 Fayette, Ga, mother Elizabeth LYLES 1815-? William Brooks WILLINGHAM 1830-1862 Walton, Ga to Cleburne Co, wife Frances Jane THOMAS 1833-1915 Joseph BAUGHN 1809-1880 from Pike, GA to Randolph Co, wife Frances O GILBERT 1810-? William Warren COPELAND 1842-1923 (father unknown, mother Elizabeth 1809) married to Susan Emiline BAUGHN fther Joseph BAUGHN 1809-1880 Pike, GA, mother Frances O GILBERT 1810-? So basically that is my CLEBURNE Co and RANDOLPH county 'early relatives'. I'd love to hear back from any of you related or have info on our lines! Remember...we are ALL related somewhere...somehow!! They settled in Hightower and became very prosperous. Most are buried in the Ranburne Baptist Church Cemetery in Ranburne. The reason for the move is not known but family stories say the war and its aftermath wiped them out financially. John was a Lt. Colonel in the Confederate Army and contracted tuberculosis which eventually killed him. He is said to be buried at Shadnor Baptist Church Cemetery in Union City, GA but there is no marker. They were probably too poor to have one. I suppose they were looking for a fresh start. The family consisted of Sarah and John's children, Nancy Elizabeth Fowler (b. 1848) and her husband John Pierce Walker (b. 1846); William Jethro Fowler (b. 1849), my ancestor, and his wife, Lucinda Caroline Owens (b. 1847). William later married Sarah Margaret Vaughan Hart; George Wilson Fowler (b. 1852) and his wife Samantha C. Hornsby (b. 1854); Mary Kate Fowler (b. 1854) who married A.J. (Jack) White in 1879, and Joel Fowler (b. 1861) who married Eliza Ballenger in 1880. Joel later married Ella Tweedell and moved to Bowdon, GA. All John and Sarah's children were born in Gwinnett County, GA except Joel, who was born in Campbell County. John Fowler (b. 1826) was the son of Nathan Fowler (1800-1860) and Elizabeth Pepper(s) of Gwinnett County; Nathan was the son of Hillery Fowler and Mary (Neal, O'Neal, or Newcom) of Warren, Jackson and Gwinnett counties; and Hillery was the son of Nathan Fowler (abt 1747 - 1817) and his wife, Nancy, who came to Georgia in 1784 and was granted many acres of land in east Georgia as a result of his Revolutionary War service. Sarah Ann Norris Fowler (1828 - 1896) was the daughter of John Jethro Norris (abt 1807 - aft 1870) and Mary Johnson (abt 1809 - aft 1870) whose birthplaces are unknown but they may have been from South Carolina. The reason I mention them is that Sarah Ann's baby sister, Mary Catherine (Mary Kate) Norris, also moved to Cleburne County and married William Christopher White. His family was quite prominent in Hightower and it is said that he owned the first telephone exchange there. On a trip to Hightower many years ago, I was privileged to have visited with the late Paula White Beam who shared much information on this family and who owned a painting of the White home in Hightower. I have all the children of these folks and would be glad to share. This post is already probably too lengthy to add more. If you are connected or related to these families, I'd love to hear from you. I hope a very quiet Cleburne Co. site will be stimulated by our administrator's request for a "shout out!" My researched families are: Wm F. Caldwell/Margaret Louisa Elizabeth Striplin; James T. Rusk/Sarah P. Clemons; Gideon Riddle/Rebecca Caldwell; Benjamin O. Striplin/Elizabeth Stewart; Louisa Riddle/Spence. These folks lived in northern Randolph Co and then Cleburne after reorganization of Alabama counties. Spread out over several northeast AL counties. Cynthia in CA

I am seeking photos of any members of the Fowler family who came to Cleburne County about 1878 and lived in the Hightower area. My great-grandfather, William Jethro Fowler, came to Cleburne from Campbell County, GA, along with his wife, Lucinda Caroline Owen(s) Fowler, his widowed mother, Sarah Ann Norris Fowler, and his brothers and sister, George, Joel and Mary Kate Fowler. Joel married twice and moved to Bowden with his second wife. The rest remained in Cleburne and are buried at Ranburne Baptist Church, along with many of their children. They intermarried with many of the prominent families of Cleburne and some of their grandchildren carry those names -- Blake, Hand, Hurst, Gay, Vaughan, Walker, Johnson, Bradberry and many others. I have never seen a photo of my great-grandfather or my grandfather, Luther Clarence Fowler who married Lula Gadsey Blake. Neither have I seen a photo of my great-grandfather, Isaac Blake. If anyone has photos they would be willing to share, I would really appreciate it. I have much information on this family but few photos, except of my father (William Jethroe Fowler) and his siblings. I will share anything I have. Thanks in advance, Judy Fowler Kilgore Newnan, GA

I get up at 2am and work from 4am to 2:30 so I go to bed early and Sat & Sun afternoon is the time I try to get something done. I know in the 1860 timeframe there was a wagon train that left from Ranburne and went to Texas mainly Bell Co. I had a lot of relatives that were on the wagon train. Cosper and Gibbs in particular. Like I said I will try to help you the best I can. The link may be in a different email. I will keep this email and look for the names this weekend. I'm looking for any information on the descendants of Mamie L Hanson and Clarence B. Treadwell. My great-great-grandfather McIntosh's sister married a Treadwell. One of their sons, Zadock D. Treadwell, moved from Carroll County, GA to Cleburne Co., AL, then on to Texas. One of Zadock Treadwell's son married Mamie L. Hanson in Cleburne County and they had the following children: - William Zedd Treadwell, married Otie Mae Smith. - Flora Bell Treadwell, married William A. Walker - Cecil Grace Treadwell, may have married Rex Newton Thomas - Fred Treadwell, married Elsie - Eunice Sybil Treadwell, married Justin Darrell Roegner - Polly O. Treadwell - Mary H. Treadwell Mamie is listed as widowed in the 1930 census. I looked on line and the Ranburne Baptist Church doesn't appear to have been transcripted yet. On www.findagrave.com, there are only 47 listings. Any help you could give me would be great. And I know about those "memory problems". I'm 59 and I have the same problem. I was born and raised in a little town that is called Ranburne, AL. It has been know by many in its earlier days as Lost Creek. There are still living in the community Hanson's and Treadwell's. My great-great uncle had a son name Sam Gibbs who married a Donnie Hanson. In earlier days there was a Hanson Store I vaguely remember it. I am 63 so some of it is not fresh on my mind. There is a Cleburne Co Heritage Book that can be purchased but I don't know where to get one at the moment. There is online and I do not know the web address off hand where there are several cemeteries listed with all the graves listed. You can try just typing in Ranburne Baptist Church Cemetery and it might pull it up. I can't remember if it was in usgenweb or rootsweb. I will try to help you find the info you need. It would be my guess that they would be buried there possibly. Also between Ranburne, AL and Bowdon, Ga, a distance of about 6 miles some folks call that area Lost Creek also. I know some of the history of the area and like I said I will try to help if you will tell me what you need. Looking for your response. I'm trying to find out where Mamie Lou Hanson Treadwell is buried. Her parents were William T. and Nancy Lou Fullilove Hanson. Best I can tell she lived in Lost Creek most of her life.
