Hi Gloria, I can't tell about the Ashland Cemetery, but I do know that in our west Texas cemetery at Water Valley, names were recorded, but not all of the graves have markers. It wasn't a requirement in earlier times, but when the WV Cemetery Association was formed, they made it mandatory. In a few cases, there are small, square stones with only a cross to mark where bodies are buried, so even if the names of the dead are on a list, there is no way of knowing which body is in which grave. Fortunately, however, the great majority of graves do have headstones. Harriet
