Wright and his wife Clara Caldwell were both born in Clay County as all of their children were. Clara was the daughter of John Nicholson Caldwell and Analiza B. B. Kilgore and James was of the son of James Wesley Wright and Francis Elizabeth Moncus all of Clay County. Clara and James were married at Mt. Gilead Episcopal Methodist Church. March 8, 1955 The LaGrange Daily News Mr. And Mrs. James B Wright Observe Golden Wedding Anniversary Sunday Mr. and Mrs. James B. Wright observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary Sunday, March 6, when their children entertained at open house at their home from 2:30 until 5 p.m. Entertaining were Mr. and Mrs. Handley Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Cobb, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Howell Wright and Brannon Wright. Arrangements of yellow chrysanthemums, gladioli and jonquils gifts to Mr. and Mrs. Wright were used to decorate through the house, Gifts and cards were displayed on tables placed in the living room. Mrs. Handley Brown, Mrs. Sidney Cobb, Mrs. Leo Wright and Mrs. Howell Wright received the guests at the door. Mrs. James B. Wright wore a dress of black crepe shere trimmed with a white color, black accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. The dining room table, overlaid with a gold cloth, held a three tiered wedding cake, embossed with yellow roses and topped , with a gold arch from which was suspended a gold wedding bell and numerals "50" in gold. The cake and the punch bowl, placed at one end of the table, were encircled with similas and yellow jonquils. Nuts and mints were also served from the table. Miss Shirley Wright and Mrs. Donald Wright and Mrs. Lamon Shelnutt, of East Point granddaughters of the honor guests served the cake. Mrs. Powell McDonald of Brunswick also a granddaughter of the honored guests, poured coffee from a silver service placed on the buffet. The service was flanked with yellow candles and banked with yellow jonquils and smilax. Mrs. Coy Williams assisted in serving and entertaining. Mrs. Ray Nixon of Hawkensville, niece and namesake of Mrs. James B. Wright, kept the register of guests. A family dinner was served buffet style at noon. All five of Mr. and Mrs. Wrights children, their 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren were present for the celebration. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rice and family and Mrs. Eula Rice of Tifton, Mrs. Ray Mixon and son, Tim of Hawkinsville, Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Caldwell, Mrs. Lola Tidwell and Lin Tidwell, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. W. Orr all of Malone, Alabama., Mr. and Mrs. Cerell Nix of Lanett, Ala., Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Moncus, all of Wadley, Ala., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Adams and children Elizabeth Ann, Nelda and Melissa of Birmingham, Ala., Dewey Caldwell and Arthur Caldwell, Jr. of Opelika, Ala. Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Rowe, and Mrs. and Mrs. Buford Potts, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Meadows, Mrs. Billy Ward of Manchester, A. J. Moncus and Joel Moncus of Fort Payne, Ala.
