Hello Everyone I'm new to the list and looking or Lett information from Clay County. According to my great grandmothers death certificate she was born in Clay County Alabama. I have also seen some information on their being Lett's in Clay and something about Lett mines. My great grandmothers name was Lucy Jane Lett. She was born to Mary Matilda Lett. It is unknown as to if Lett is the maiden or married name of Mary Matilda. Mary Matilda was born around 1849 and the true location is unknown. In 1900 census she is in Lamar County Alabama with one son named John O. Lett. That we know of she had two other children; Eugene ( probably the oldest but birth date unknown at this time ) and Lucy Jane born in Feb. 7, 1874 and according the death certificate; Clay County. She died in New Braunfels Texas and was shipped back to be buried in Monroe County Mississippi. The death certificate says Acker cemetery but I believe this to be Egger. No proof of that yet. Any information about these Letts or any of the Lett's from Clay County would be appreciated. Thanks! Sharon Griffin-Cobb
