He came to this country from Scotland - with 3 brothers, James, Thomas, and William., and a sister, Anne Hopkins. sometime in the mid- 1740's. One brother, James Grierson, was an officer with the Georgia Militia, serving the Loyalists. James was killed due to siege of Augusta, after he had surrendered to the Patriots and had been paroled. He was given a full military funeral. He was married to a Creek Indian woman, and left 2 children in the Eufaullies. Thomas was serving with the Patriots and was killed by a Loyalist for no apparent reason. He left children in Scotland. I know nothing of William. Mrs. Hopkins died, leaving her land , money and slaves to James Grierson's children. Robert Grierson was married to Sin o gee, a Creek Indian woman of the Spanalgee Family. They had a large plantation at Hillabee, many animals, cotton fields, and slaves. He entertained Benjamin Hawkins, the Indian Agent -- and Hawkins wrote about him. Robert & wife had children. Sandy, James, Sarah, Catherine (Katy), William, Eliza, Walter. He was a friend of Andrew Jackson's, also. Robert was considered a Patriot and great help to the Revolutionaries and is buried in Pinckneyville, Clay County, Alabama I do not know what cemetery. Additional Comments: I am a descendant of Robert Grierson -- and this information plus more came to me through my grandmother, and mother -- both born in Indian Territories -- one in Alabama , and the other in Oklahoma territory....Willabelle Schultz File at: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/al/clay/military/revwar/other/nmt14grierson.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/alfiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
