Information found thus far supports that he was born abt. 1840 in Talladega Co., AL. and died 4 Jan. 1914 in Clay Co., AL. His parents: John David Davis (c.1820GA - ? ) wife: Nancy Bates (c.1821VA - ? ) John H. Davis appears to have married abt. 1862 probably in Randolph Co., AL. His wife: Elizabeth Harriet Sims; b. abt. 1844 Chambers Co., AL.; d. 18 March 1914 Clay Co., AL. Her parents: Clayborn Sims (c.1812SC-1897; d. Clay Co., AL.) wife: Susan Waldrop (1820GA - a866/67; d. Clay Co., AL.) Note: The 1880 census for Coppermines, Clay Co., AL. lists wife of John H. Davis as Henrietta E. Davis; age 28; b.AL. That listing must be incorrect as a daughter, Margaret F. Davis is listed as age 10; b. AL. I've not seen the original census listing, so don't know if the name Henrietta and age 28 are the same as transcribed and shown on LDS Familysearch.
