He lived in Caddo Gap, Ark where there is a large rocky bluff. He was hunting a mountain lion in the winter on the bluff. The lion was threatening his animals. He fell off the bluff and broke both legs. One leg had to be amputated and he always said that they cut off the good leg. His son, My Grandfather James Elam Horn, moved back to Coleta, Clay Co., Al and raised his family. Colonel Amos Horn was his name, not a military title. She was born abt 1834 in SC. Married E.H. (Elisha) Hamil in 1851 Talbot Co GA. Moved to Clay Co AL abt 1860, appearing in census that year. Elisha Hamil son of James and Permelia Hamil was a confederate soldier in Co B., 32nd GA Regiment. Elisha and Mary Ellen Hamil lived in Clay Co Al from abt 1860 to abt 1877. They moved to Milam Co., Texas about that time. I have lots of information of the Hamil family and nothing on the McVey family that connects. Mary Ellen lists on most census records that she was born SC. Father born SC and Mother born NC. Any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks for your help!

(there is a Liney Mitchum who died in Clay Co AL in 1921) and J W (Bond for marriage by DT Mitchum) all of whom married in Clay Co Al in the 1890's. I know the first name is Daniel but could the middle name be Thomas by chance We are looking for a Thomas Mitchum b abt 1840 We are not sure if he was born in Ga or AL His father Nathaniel James Mitchum married in 1836 in Clarke Co GA. to Eudosha Hubbard Both of them are buried in Lawrence co AL by 1840 they lived in Tallapoosa Co AL, 1850 Cobb Co GA, 1860 Calhoun Co Al, 1870 and 1880 Shelby Co Al by 1896 they were in Lawrence Co and that is the year both Nathaniel and Eudosha died. Thomas is last on the 1860 Calhoun Co AL census with his parents and after that we cant find him I did find a marriage for a Thomas Mitchum to a Ellen McKinnon in Etohaw Co Al in 1882 but that would be to late for these children or grandchildren. Thomas had siblings named James W married a Emily probably in Shelby or Calhoun Co AL between 1860-1870 They had children James, William And possibly Sarah Arrena. Believe he might be the James Mitchum in Tuscaloosa Co AL in 1880 just not sure yet because the image is really bad and hard to read have not found them in 1900 John T married a Martha ? and both buried in Lawrence co AL one child named Annie B Mitchum Ray who died in childbirth jjust 2 days after the still born birth of her only child in 1896 also buried in Lawrence Co Al Martha never married buried in Lawrence Co Al Joshua d in Shelby Co AL and is buried there no issues his date of death is suspicous however because Shelby Co Al cem book says he died Nov 1867 but he was on the 1870 census at age 15 We think he died in Nov 1876 cause he is not on the 1880 census. William M married Mary E Martin Shelby Co AL He is buried in Lawrence Co Al her burial place is unknown one child named Julia R MItchum Holbert buried on land now owned by Boeing Aircraft in Trinity AL Sallie/Sarah died unmarried and is buried in Lawrence co AL Joseph where abouts unknown after 1880 Shelby Co AL census There father was born in Lincoln Co NC in 1813 Also since you have researched the Mitchums in Clay Co Al who is the Andrew J Mitchum buried there if known. He died Jan 1925 Clay Co Al His wifes name was Catherine ? Debra in TX
In August 1894, W. H. Johnston was pastor of Concord Baptist Church near Lineville. He agreed to pastor for the next year. In April 1895, O. P. Gilbert agreed to pastor the church for the balance of the year. Does anyone know what happened to W. H. Johnston? Does anyone know who W. H. Johnston was? Also, the terms "excluded" and "turned out" are used on the same page of the membership roster. Does anyone have any idea what the difference is? Sharon Boling

Hello, I have hit one of those "brick walls" while looking for my grandfather. He was William Mark Proctor, supposedly born in Georgia and, because of family circumstances, moved to Alabama when he was young to live with a Quarles/Quayle family. I can find nothing about any of this; have you run across anything in your research that indicates that WM ever lived with your John Day and his wife? Thank you so very much for any help you can give me.
