This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Sparks, McCoy Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2R.2ADE/1306 Message Board Post: SPARKS FAMILY GATHERING AT CRAGFORD, ALABAMA Descendants and friends of the Dennis McFranklin Sparks and Julia Ann McCoy family will meet on Saturday, September 18, 2004, at the Cragford Community Center (old Cragford School House) in Clay County, Alabama, for their fourth annual reunion. The reunion will start at 10:00 a.m. and last until everyone gets ready to go home. Dennis and Julia were married on November 11, 1866, in Randolph County (now Clay County), Alabama. Dennis and Julia raised a large family. Of their sixteen children, eleven raised families of their own. This branch of the Sparks family left England in the 1600’s and settled in the State of Maryland. By the mid-1700’s, part of the family had relocated to the forks of the Yadkin River in North Carolina. Some family members migrated into Georgia in the early 1800’s. And by the mid-1800’s, the family had settled in those areas of Randolph and Talladega Counties that later became Clay County. A covered dish lunch will be served at noon. Bring enough food and drinks for your family plus a little extra. Also bring copies of old family recipes, songs, stories, pictures and anything else that might be of interest to others and contribute to the Sparks family history. The crowd gets a little bigger each year. This past year relatives came from several states to attend the reunion. A large turnout is anticipated this year. If you have any questions about the reunion, please contact Ed Sparks at 256-396-5950 or Carl Burdette at 770-271-1283 or at burdette@mindspring.com.

So maybe they were from Georgia. If you could check their also, you might find out something more. If we could get ahold of Rachel's death or funeral records, that would be alot of help. And please feel free to email: @ barbiepitchford@yahoo.com anytime. We need to try to get ahold of one of the Hallman books......Sincerely, Barbara Pitchford

Your information has helped greatly. Do you know if they were from Franklin Co. AL or if they were buried here or anything? If you know I can find out their d.o.b and d.o.d. Thanks so much for your reply! Sincerely, Kim Brooks

I dont know if their the same ones or not, but maybe if we all work together we might figure it out.... But Karen has a website on Rachel and it is ( www.geocities.com/heartland/cliffs/9011/ ) Maybe this will help you. And if you have any other info. that might be related to Rachels brothers or sisters please let know, I would greatly appreciate it..... Good Luck , Barbara Hallman Pitchford.
