( I am in Auburn, AL.) This is what I have from Stewart Diamond, a direct descendant of Martha Elizabeth Stone and Matt or Madison Stewart. I am stuck, too, trying to get beyond Matt who apparently served in the 9th Alabama infantry and whose wife, Martha, received a pension. Matt Stewart married Martha Elizabeth Stone, daughter of Rollin Stone and Harriett ?? She was born April 13, 1854 and died May 13, 1912. Children of Matt Stewart and Martha Stone: Mera Stewart, born 1883, married Wade ??? James Washington (Governor) Stewart, born April 26, 1886, Ashland, AL., died March 05, 1949, Henegar, AL. (We do not know if Governor was part of his name or a nickname. In one of the censuses he listed himself as "Gov". He was a Methodist preacher who lived in Centre, AL. in Cherokee County and was preaching in Henagar in DeKalb County when he died. His wife is buried beside him in the Henegar Cemetery in DeKalb County.) James (Governor) Washington Stewart was born April 26, 1886 in Ashland, AL. and died March 05, 1949 in Henegar, AL. He married Arcadia Lucretia Sargent, daughter of James Sargent and Emily Christine Williams. She was born Nov. 02, 1894 in Millerville, AL and died May 03, 1982 in Centre, AL. Children of James Stewart and Arcadia (Katy) Sargent: Bessie Lee Thelma born June 23, 1911, died Nov. 4, 1975 James Elvin Mera Christine Ethel Mae Arvis Lauren Gladdis Lemuel Maymie Rachel Ruby Malone Ellen Gail Bessie Lee Thelma (called Thelma) married Lorenza Vaughn Diamond. Their children: Lorenza Stewart Diamond, born Aug. 8, 1938 Vauncile Diamond, born Sept. 25, 1947 Rollin Stone has posted a message on this website that may interest you. I have much more detail on all of these people and several photographs. Your information will help me very much. I have access to all the census records through genealogy.com and ancestry.com and Family Tree Maker. I would like to know more about Matt Stewart. Do you know where he is buried? Apparently, the Stewarts came from Georgia and the Stones from South Carolina. Good luck!! Thanks for posting your message.

Since I last searched the Bureau of Land Management's records (some time ago), they have updated their files to allow for Adobe Acrobat PDF files to read and save the patents. This makes is a lot easier to read the land patents compared to the GIF or TIFF files in use before. To reach the Bureau of Land Management search files, go to http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/PatentSearch/
I would like to know the birth date and death date of Lucy Wesley Haynes; she was married to John L. Haynes in 1888 and she died in 1901 whereupon John L. Haynes remarried to a lady with the given name of Margie. The full name of Lucy was Lucy Astilla Wesley Haynes. Thanks for any info. Johnny Haynes

They connect to my family through Rebecca Edmondson Waldrop and husband Jason G. Waldrop. Also Rebecca's brother Thomas Edmondson was once married into the Eldon Flint Mitchell family and I think the Miles Family has direct links to the Mitchell family. There are several Miles buried alongside the Mitchell/Edmondson group at Auslin's Chapel near Wedowee, Randolph Co., Al. I am no expert on these, I just research as a past time. I might could answer some general questions. You could try the Mitchell message board here or try www.genforum.com then jump to the Mitchell family site. I think you will find someone there who could help more.
I'm interested in your Perry & Morris families who lived in Randolph, Clay, Tallapoosa, Calhoun Counties. My Perry married a Morris, but I have connecting lines that are somewhat complicated to explain because of cluster marriages. My ggg-grandfather was George W. L. Perry born Randolph Co., AL to James W. Perry & Martha A. C. Noel, daughter of Richmond Noel and Rhoda Waters Pruitt. After James W. Perry's death, Martha A.C. Noel Perry married an F.M. Brown. James W. Perry & Martha A.C. Noel had 4 children. #1 Richmond N. Perry who married Julia A. Kirk. They are buried in the Antioch Cemetery, Randolph Co., AL. #2 George Washing L Perry who married Susan Morris, dau of Isaac Morris and Mary B. Sharp of Tallapoosa Co., AL. #3 John Frank M. (aka Frank M. Perry) Perry who married probably 2x - 1st to an E. R. Peterson and 2nd to a Mary whose surname may have been Lynch. She was related to a Frank Lynch, but I don't know how. Members of this Lynch family may have owned a funeral parlor or tombstone engraving business in the 20th century in Randolph, Calhoun, or Clay Counties. At least one or more families in the Lynch clan moved to Texas where the parents of a daughter died and their daughter was reared in the Ellis Co., TX h/h of a George Richmond (Rich) Perry --(this one son of G.W.L. Perry & Susan Morris)-- and his wife Dorah Lynch. Martha A. C. Noel Perry married 2nd F. M. Brown - no other information is known about him. They had daughter Ariel Brown. Susan Morris had a sister, Elizabeth Morris who married George W. Hinkle. Another sister was Mary Morris who married Nathan W. McLain. A brother was James Isaac Morris who married Arian Brown, the half-sister of GWL Perry. To further complicate relationships James Isaac Morris and Arian Brown had a daughter Rhoda Morris who married James Benjamin (Ben) Perry, son of G.W.L. Perry and Susan Morris. Richmond Noel Perry and Julia Perry supposedly had 14 children. I have the names of 9, possibly 10. Their sons were John W. Perry, William F. Perry (lived in Clay County), James P. Perry, Richmond Allan Perry (lived in Clay County), Charles M. Perry, George Richmond Perry --(had 1st cousin by same name & both moved to Texas)--, and Thomas Perry. Known daughters included (I think) Anna Perry who married A. L. Kanady, Ella M.C. Perry, and Emily A. Perry (a twin to Wm. F. Perry). Richmond Allan Perry married Martha Bell Shivers. I'm particularily interested in collecting data on the desc. of Richmond N. Perry, but would also like to have information on any of the families mentioned above.
