Surnames: Sparks, Hassell Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2R.2ADE/634.669.670.673.2 Message Board Post: Hi Norma Jean, You and I are second cousins with Dennis McFranklin Sparks being our common ancestor. I descend through Dennis Walden Sparks, a brother to your grandfather--Eugene Sparks. I have a rather large database on our Sparks family and will be glad to share any information you might need. I also have information on some of our other lines, including Hassell. You are probably already aware of the Sparks reunion to be held at the old Cragford School House starting at 10:00 a.m this coming Saturday. If not, sent me an e-mail, and I'll send you one of the announcements. I tried to e-mail you direct at your Yahoo address, but my message bounced. Were you at the reunion last year? I can't recall meeting you. Hope you can make it this year. We had a really large turn out last year; however, the weather may cause a lower attendance this year. Drop me a note and let me know what information you would like to have. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    1. [17] Knox' of Lincoln Co, GA
    2. Does anyone have any information on the Knox' of Lincoln Co, GA? My ancestor is from there, and I have been able to find absolutly nothing on her other than her marriage. I am searching for Hepsabah Knox, bn GA, 1822, married William H Gaither, in Lincoln Co, GA., 1841. They had moved to Talladega Co, AL by 1850. In later years, they were in Clay Co. AL, where they died between 1900 & 1910. There was a John Knox who signed as a witness for William Gaither's father's will.(in Lincoln Co, GA) Could this John Knox be Hepsabah's father? There is also a John Knox, Jr listed in legal papers with John Knox, Sr. Does anyone know if these John Knox's are related to Hepsabah Knox? I need all the help I can get!!! Thanks, Wanda

Joseph Smith & Soleta Hearn also had a son, Winfield Scott Smith, born 8/15/1886 in Clay Co, AL (I am told that he was called "Scott"). He married Iduma Silas, born 7/11/1885 in Clay Co, AL, on 8/1/1905. Winfield died on 3/28/1965 & Iduma on 2/4/1968, both at Telfair County Hospital, Telfair Co, GA. They had a son (among others), Andrew Jackson Smith on 4/2/1918. This is my father's father. I have found the information on the Hearn line that you were speaking of. However, I have not yet been able to find anything on Nancy Short's line, or on Joseph Smith's line. Wasn't Nancy Short the mother of Soleta & the wife of James Hearne? Or was she the mother of Joseph Smith & the wife of Daniel Sydney Smith? Thank you so much for all your help!

    3. Standing guard over the old train-stop, the venerable old hotel resists the consuming embrace of decay, it waits like a deserted lover for familiar footsteps that will never return. The sound of dancing feet and gay laughter can never again resound in the dance hall, and the splashing delight of swimming children is forever more replaced by the solitude and quiet of moss and tadpoles. We sit quietly in the evenings on the front porch when summer begrudgingly gives way to fall. We sit with our grandchildren and listen intently for some shadow of the music that used to drift up from the springs when we were younger, but the cherping of crickets and the calls of lonely birds bedding down for the night remind us that time marches on, and things never stay the same. ...from a book i'm going to finish someday....
