    3. I met Mrs Teal in 1961; my sister used to go see her in Lineville, or near there. Her husband made my baby a little toy by whittling a wooden spool so it would turn...I am not sure but I think her son sold cars ,maybe in Warener robins ga. I met her daughter but not her son.I had a book about her, and maybe my sister has it. She had had a doctor friend earlier in life who convinced her she was not a witch, and since she needed the money she took a little money[not much] to help people. Her house is still there[I think] next to the highway across frm a store..it was a simple clean very neat house with a swing on the large front porch. she was good at what she did and I only saw her once. She said my life was going to be very hard but I would have much good things in it--true friends, etc Mrs Bolling ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! 3. I am new to genealogy, but loved hearing stories about earlier times when I was a child visiting my grandmother in Simpson Community. One of my favorites was about a Mrs. Teel(sp) who was a psychic. Evidently she could tell folks all kinds of things they wanted to know- according to my grandmother, my grandfather went to her to find his prizes bull who had gone missing. Mrs. Teel told him he would never see that bull again, told him where to find a cut fence where the bull had been stolen and told him where in Georgia the bull had to marketed. According to the story, everything she told him was true. Rumor had it that the US government even consulted with her during WWII. My mother only remembers that she lived "a little ways away- not around from around New Site". Does anyone know of this person, Mrs. Teel, and her psychic abilities? I would love to read more about her. Thanks, Nancy

Please forgive me for any confusion as there are several pieces to the Clay/Randolph 1860 census and I do want credit to go where it belongs. Linda Ayers and Kaye Watts have both submitted portions of this census,, the Blakes Ferry District was done by Linda and the Wesobulga by Kaye. Ladies I am sorry that I did not clarify that!! As I so very much appreciate all that you both do for Clay Co. researchers!!! Debra Crosby

All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/al/alfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Linda S. Ayers WwLSARANDOLPH@aol.com January 25, 2003, 5:37 pm The Lineville Headlight Oct 30, 1908 Louis Graben Louis Graben one of the oldest citizens of this section, was killed at his home six miles east of Lineville Saturday evening October 24, by being kicked and dragged by a mule. The deceased has tethered the mule out to graze and the mule became entangled in the rope, when Uncle Louis as he was called, went to disentangle him. As he did so, the mule kicked him and the rope wrapped around Uncle Louis’s arm. Then the mule made a mad dash and dragged Uncle Louis at will. The aged wife of the deceased was present but unable to stop the wild and freighted mule, but she gave the alarm, when neighbors came the mule had stopped and Uncle Lewis, though yet alive, was fearfully bruised by being dragged over the rough ground and rocks. Though much suffering he lingered until Sunday morning at 2 o’clock when the spark of life went out. The deceased was a German and was born near Berlin, Germany. He did not believe in the compulsory service in the German army. So when he was conscripted for army service, he ran away and came to this country. After remaining in New York for a short time, he came south and settled in South Carolina. The family eventually moved to Alabama, near Lineville. Soon afterwards, the Civil War broke out and Louis Graben was one of the first men in this section to volunteer. He remained in the Confederate Army throughout the conflict and all who saw him under fire bear testimony that he was one of the bravest soldiers they ever saw. He was a honest and honored and respected by all who knew him. He leaves a widow and a large number of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was seventy-nine years of age at the time of his death and was one of the hardiest citizens who ever lived in this section. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2R.2ADE/998.1.2 Message Board Post: Thank you so much for your reply. I know absolutely nothing about Parthena Browning. The only child of her marriage to Robert Collier, that I know of is my hubby's great-grandfather, Thomas Newton Collier. On his death certificate, his son, Thomas Washington Collier, gave Parthena's name as 'Tiny' with no surname! That is all I knew of her from the time I married in 1968 until a couple of weeks ago, when I was reading my husband's Gwaltney/Gaultney chart..and it says Robert's wife was Parthena Browning. You can imagine how thrilled I was/am...but that is all I know! I am trying to contact the person who shared the chart, but no luck. Since he has no Collier connections, or Browning connections, this may be just something someone else shared with him. PLEASE let me know more about your BROWNING lineage of the 1800's! Maybe some name similarities will be a clue! Thanks again. Suz

    3. I have a question about Sprayberrys. Uriah C. Sprayberry was the father of Nancy Sprayberry. Nancy married Jordan Shores and named a son Uriah K. Shores. Uriah Shores then married a Martha Jane Reeves. In recent months I have talked to persons who believe that this Martha Jane Reeves was the same as Martha Jane Reeves b. June 10, 1860 to James Marion Reeves and Mary Ann Childers Reeves. This couple( James and Mary Ann) are my great grandparents. I have been under the impression that this Martha Jane Reeves had married a Willingham. This new contact also felt it was proven that Martha Jane and Uriah K. Shores were both to a large percentage of American Indian Heritage. Could any of you put any light on this subject? Thank you, Tommie Reeves Smith
