Jordan was born on 3 January, 1832 in Macon, Bibb county, GA (according to his obit). Both of his parents were born in GA (according to his census info). On the 10th of October, 1859, at Wedowee, Alabama, Thomas married Mary Creel, who was born in Carroll county, GA; she was the daughter of Jordan Creel and Mary (Polly) White, both of Carroll county. Their sons, Joseph Wiley and William Dotson, were born in 1860 and 1862. Their daughter Mary was born in 1864 and died in 1871. Thomas and Mary "adopted" Mary Dyson/Dison, b. 1876. Apparently they did not legally adopt her, since she kept the surname Dyson. She m. Robert L. Thurman in 1893 in Clay county, AL. In 1878, Thomas and his family moved to Ashland, AL, in Clay county, where he began publishing a newspaper. I was not even sure of her siblings and already you have a confirmed sibling for me. I know that the Waits go back to Whitshire England from her parents Samuel and Suzanna Tidmore and Samuel's parents being Mary and John Waights. The census just lists the number of people in the family in 1820 in Conecuh Samuel and Wife with one WM<21 and 2 WF<21 But I didn't know their names I had seen someone speculate that the siblings were Henry, Jacob, James, Rosanna, Catherine, and Sarah but hadn't been able to confirm it. Consider that in 1830 the population of Georgia was about 50,000 people, half of which are slaves. My lineage goes back to Joshua Horn b 1796 in NC but he winds up in Troup Co Ga and finally to Horn's Valley Ala. (which is in Clay Co) I believe that Joshua is the son of a John Horn who lived in Monroe co Ga and won land in the land lottery for land that is now Troup. There are intermarriages with the Horn's and Dison's (GW Dison and Darthy Ann Horn). I think John Horn died in Troup. Joshua died in Horn's Valley and is buried there.
