I'd like any information on George W. Cox, who was a 2nd Lieutenant when the company was formed in April of 1862. He ended up being a Captain in 1864, when he was wounded at New Hope Church. I think he is the George Washington Cox (b. 8/13/1835 in Clarke Co. d. 11/12/1879 in Clarke Co.) that was the grandson of John Cox(1764-1842) who came to Clarke Co. around 1811. I would like solid proof that these two people are one in the same. Here is what I have that makes me think that they are the same. When the company was formed the following people where part of the 32nd Infantry Regiment of Alabama Volunteers Company "D". A. J. YORK, 3rd Lieut Micajah HARRIS, 3rd Sergt COX, Arris YORK, B. W. From the information I have in my family tree, all of these people are in some way related to George W. Cox, the grandson of John Cox. Alexander J. YORK is a cousin of G.W. COX Micajah HARRIS is an uncle Aras (Arris) COX, the son of James COX, is a cousin Bohan W. YORK is a cousin Maybe this is a coincidence, I would like to sort this out and find out if these two G.W. Cox's are the same. If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it a lot. Shawn Cox _____________________________________________________________________________________ Get more from the Web.
