    3. I don't think the Grove Hill Academy still exists. But it is written about in "Clarke County Alabama and Its Surroundings", by Rev. T. H. Ball. Grove Hill, AL, 1882. Reprinted by Clarke Co. Historical Society, 1978. He says the Academy opened in 1836 and that he was the principal from 1851 to 1853, then from 1854 to 1855. John C. Foster is listed as principal from 1857 to 1859, as you say. There isn't too much about the academy in the book, but I believe several FOSTERS were mentioned. It's worth a look.
