    3. Hello Clarke County, I hope someone will be able to help me find out about Marion Lodge. I have an obituary on my gr,gr, grandfather J.W.M. Anderson. He lived in Suggsville, Clarke County, Alabama. I would like to find out what the Marion lodge was. Was it a something like the Masonic Lodge? J.W.M. Anderson died in Mobile , AL during the Civil War in 1863. He left behind his wife, Nancy C.(McClure) Anderson and 6 children. the children were named 1)Robert James, 2)Jesse William, 3)Effie Ann, 4)Maria "Dolly", 5)Thomas 6)William Anderson. All of these children were born in Clarke County before the Civil War. J.W.M. Anderson (Joseph William Marvin, I think that what the initials stand for)bought property in 1849 from a man named Crawford in the swamp land of Clarke Co. I know that two of his children lived in the swamp with their families after they married. The children were Jesse William (my great grandfather) who married Eleanor "Ellen"Dunn. and Maria "Dolly" who married Anthony Wayne Dunn. When they moved out of the swamp area they sold it to Sewell White. Any help on this family would be greatly appreciated.

    3. Dear Richard, Did you get an answer to this question? I know that Marion Lodge was part of the Masons. I am interested in it, too. I am wondering if any membership records exist, which would hopefully give some background information on members in the 1800s. If they exist, where would I find them?
