Box 39 Grove Hill, AL 36451" "There are also Bedsoles in Marengo County. When I was a kid, one of the department stores in Linden was Bedsole's. There may have been more than one Bedsole's store. I also remember there being a few people named Bedsole, although I never really knew them." "There was also a family named BEDSOLE who came to Clarke Co., from Walton Co., FL in 1866. Edward BEDSOLE lived in the New Prospect Beat, also known as Mitcham Beat, where trouble began to stir in the 1880's. It culminated in the "Mitcham War" of 1893 when Ernest McCorquodale was murdered by a gang called Hell at the Breech. A posse was formed, which turned into a mob, and a son of Edward BEDSOLE, named Tooch BEDSOLE was killed for his part of the gang's activiities.
