    1. David or Jesse Griffin
    2. Possum
    3. Hello everyone, Since we are all talking about our family surnames, I thought I would repost my efforts also. I am looking for the family to prove or disprove the connection of my John M. Griffin born 1849 in Alabama to the Griffin family from Clarke County. What I know so far is David or Jesse Griffin was in Clarke County, both were killed in battle 1813...I don't have the notes right in front of me. They were twins and killed in a battle with the "Indians"... So...it's thought one of them married or both married and had the following.... John born December 25, 1807 married Sarah Glass on October 10, 1835 in Clarke County...Together they had 7 children one of which was John Griffin born 1849...who I believe is my direct line...John and Sarah had a daughter named Celestina which may or may not be part of my Great Grandmother's name...from her marriage record this name appears to be middle name also. Since she passed away in 1915 we really don't know for sure. John Griffin most likely was brother to William Griffin born 1813 and married Anne Drinkard,. they had 3 children that I know of. Ivey, John, and Margaret. I know that in 1910 John M Griffin born 1849 was in Monroe County Alabama and married to Ann E. E. Lizelle "Lizzie" Mc Kinley, they were married in 1868. Together they had 5 children their youngest being my Great Grandmother. I am searching to find out more about the Griffin's of Clarke County to prove or disprove the connection. Any help on these Griffin's would be greatly appreciated. Other area names I am researching... Daniel/Daniels/Stabler/McDonald/Harris/Turberville/Bohannon/McKinley/Barlow. ..all in the Monroe/Conecuh/Clarke county area Thanks Debbie

    1. Hello Nancy
    2. JOSH STREET
    3. Nancy, I too would like to thank you for the time you devote to all of us. Your efforts, both large and small, are invaluable to us all. Thanks so much for the look-up on my Tolbert/Talbert's. Hopefully, this small bit of information will help others looking for this same family. I found that there were two William Talbert's living in Clarke Co, AL at the same time, one married to nancy Rebecca Courtney and the other to Elizabeth Sheppard. One Mr. Talbert spelled his name Tolbert, or at least the person writing the item spelled them differently. Gail Tolbert Street

    3. Thank you, Nancy, for this wonderful gift! Then to Bonnie or others seeking PARKERS: I believe that the cited Seth J. Parker is my husband's Great Grandfather, Seth Joseph Parker, b. 1828 in Clarke Co., d. 1902 in Clarke Co. I would be interested in corresponding with any one who has Seth Joseph Parker in a family line. Thank you again, Nancy, and thank you also to Bonnie whose request included Parkers. 2. Hi Bonnie: Your wrote >> Mine are JAMES, ERNST or ERNEST, HARPERS and PARKERS....Do you need their first names? <<< The answer to your question is simply that it is of more value to the listers if I only search for the SURNAME. That way more information is provided on the partiular line in question. In your case I did not find the surnames ERNST, ERNEST OR HARPERS. HOWEVER, I did find three articles with the surname JAMES, one with HARPER and one with PARKERS. 2. Hi All, I received a wonderful reply from Nancy regarding her offer to do lookups. I also received a reply from others regarding the same subject. One of those replies was from: dnjtucker@earthlink.net (Darrell & Jean Tucker) and contained a file to download that had a virus. Everyone, please be aware that someone is reading the mailing lists and responding with downloadable files that contain viruses as this also happened to me as a result of a query on the Bibb County mailing list. Fortunately, I had a virus program running and the files were deleted before doing any damage.
