    3. I forgot to mention that in that same newsletter that was mentioned in my last post Clarke County was said to be meeting "At the house next to the County Museum in Grove Hill", at a time that has already passed. Each Newsletter gives a rundown on which counties are doing what and meeting where, etc ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

    3. Sorry; I posted to what I thought would be both the list and the last party to post re the Heritage books. Won't go into the detail I did in that note, but didn't save it when I sent it so will just say that one of the Heritage Newsletters that I have been receiving indicates that Clarke is still in the process of gathering items, as they aren't included in the list of either Books available that have already been published or in the Books that are in the process of being published at the moment. (Not to be confused with being put together....) The following addresses and numbers are 205-280-4100 for the Heritage Newsletter; email is heripubcon@aol.com and the web site is http://mindspring.com/~awillcut/heritage.htm The address for Heritage Publishing Consultants , Inc is P.O. From: Kathy Tindle <kltindle@earthlink.net> To: ktindle@hotmail.com Subject: ADDITIONAL OBITS REQUESTED AFTER LAST OBIT POST WAS MADE Date: Wed, 03 Nov 1999 15:30:54 -0800 The following are results of a search for Clarke County obits from others who had posted requests either as or after I posted the last results. As was done in the last post, I am including all by the surname requested, even if the particular given name isn't shown. *****NOTE***** I won't have time to give results of the index of Orphans Court Book B (Bk A is missing- SIC) , 1829---40, or the Records of Guardians of Estates & Wills 1832-39 today, but will get them posted tomorrow, or late tonight. The post will be in ref only to the surnames requested in the post that is now being made. 3. This collection of valuable information and stories on Clarke County Alabama contained in the Clarke County Historical Quarterly collection will not be accessed easily through the Historical Society. That archive collection is stuffed in an old dresser drawer in a hallway in the Historical building and is almost useless in the current condition. There is not a copy machine in the building. You will find this same collection in several Libraries. Mobile has a set and other Libraries will also - just search. This collection would be useful if it could be put online and this could be accomplished with permission of the Historical Society. We have not found any interest in the Society to help get this valuable data to researchers. The Society has not even indexed the stories so it is all just a pile of information to be searched through issue by issue. Hope this helps you get the copies. .... 1. Obits searched for Nancy Harwood
    2. Kathy Tindle
    3. Nancy Harwood requested Clarke County Obits on about the 15th of October, which I was able to do, and was able to obtain some of the obits that she had requested. Communications were no problem up to that point I was sent exact names to search, but have not been able to get a response since sending them. The above address worked up until then. Would like to know if she recieved them, or if the address is now somehow wrong. Would be willing to look for anyone else that might need an obit searched. What I have is about 25 pages in length, and all are Clarke County obits from the Clarke Newspapers of the times. Dates appaer to cover from the 1830's on. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
