    3. 30JAN1999 For members researching surnames: PEEK, PEAK, PEAKS or PEAKE: I’m looking for any information on a g-g-grandfather of mine George PEAK(E). He was born about 1784 in Virginia and married his wife Sarah E. SAXON in Laurens County, South Carolina ca 1813. George PEAKE is shown in the 1840 and 1850 US Censuses of AUTAUGA County, Alabama. The 1850 census listed him and his family as residents of Wetumpka, Autauga, Alabama. George PEAKE and Sarah E. SAXON were the parents of : Jane Downs Peek (1814-1884) Nancy E. Peek (1831-?) Charlotte Peake (1833-?) Ida L. Peek (1834-?) Sophiah Peake (1835-?) George Franklin Peek (1836-1901) -my g-grandfather James S. Peek Benjamin Peek William R. Peek (1842-1912) A short biographical sketch of my g-grandfather (G.F. Peek, M.D.) in The Goodspeed Publishing Company’s, “Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Missisippi states that: ”…He is a son of George and Sarah E. (Saxon) Peek. The father was a native of Virginia, and the mother of South Carolina. They were married in Lawrence county , of the latter named state, and shortly afterward settled in Autauga county, Ala, removing thence to Coosa county, Ala. “where they resided until their deaths…” I could not find George Peake and Sarah E. Saxon Peake in the 1860 census for either Autauga or Coosa Counties. I assume my g-g-grandparents George Peake and Sarah E. Saxon Peake died between 1850 and 1860 in Coosa County and are buried somewhere in Coosa County. Will be happy to exchange information with anyone who has anything to add to the above. George Franklin Peek (1926----)
