    3. Brandon, I couldn't find a John Thompson Roper. However, I did find the following in the 1850 Census of Lowndes County: Joseph F. Roper 42 ME Clergyman NC Louisa P. " 38 TN William R. " 15 AL Rachael E. " 12 AL Joseph F. " 1 AL Are you sure about the name? This seems like too much of a coincidence. This Roper would have been born in NC in 1807/1808 and from the ages of these children, he was in AL by the mid-1830s.
