My great grandfather, Alfred Joshua ALDRIDGE, b. abt 1862/1864 in AL, married my great grandmother Bettie MATTHEWS in Chilton Co. in 1885. Bettie is supposed to be the daughter of Polly MIMS who married 1st John HEADLEY, 2nd John W. DuBOSE and 3rd Jefferson (Dick?) EDWARDS. In the 1880 Chilton Co. census Bettie is listed as the stepdaughter of the head of the house (Jeff EDWARDS) and is presumably the dau. of the lady of the house, who is the Polly listed above. My questions are 1. Who is the father of Bettie MATTHEWS? 2. Who are the parents of Alfred Joshua ALDRIDGE? I can't find A.J. ALDRIDGE in the 1870 census for Chilton, as a child. Family history says A.J. killed his cousin "Dutch" between 1903 and 1905 and I would like any information regarding that as well. It is said that "Dutch" and A.J. had a long standing "feud" but I have no details. A.J. died in Autauga Co. in 1932 and was there from at least 1900 until his death.
