I'm going to post some of the most useful info here. Jan : 1884 30. Balzora, 8 year old dau of John Jones,died 8 A.M. 31. " was buried 1 P.M. Hatchett Creek Cemetary Dec: My Wife died at 2:45 A.M. Church bells in Verbena tolled at 3 A.M. We left Verbena with Corpse on Wagon at 9 A.M. and buried her at Hatchett Creek in Coosa Co., 4 P.M. 1885 Feb: 21 Mrs. Bales was buried at Hatchett Creek May: 18 Monday went to Verbena and was married to Miss Mary Posey by Elder J.L. Thompson at 10 O'Clock A.M. and returned home. June: 18. Went to Masonic burial of Mr. Terry. July 17. Mr. Hill finished my first wifes iron grave frame and he and sons Archie and Dock went to Hatchett Creek to put it up. July 24: Poplar Springs, ordained Bro. Ray a Deacon. Aug:22 Wife and I dined with John Dennis, I married M.W. Ferguson and Miss Sally Weaver in the evening at the Dennis home. Sept 7 Norris died Sept 8 I preached Norris funeral Sept 21 I did wedding for John Estes. Sept 29 Married Ethan Jones to Lula Farr at my house. Oct 12 My birthday. Oct 22 Dau., Docia and Sidney, were married at my home today. Dec 1 I married Mark Nored and Clemie Bridges at my house. 1887 Jan 27 I married Hiram B. Oliver and Mary E. Gulledge Apr: 7 Today is my Preacher boy, Jimmies ordination day. May 2 Mrs. Merriweather died May 8 I preached E.M. Devaughin's funeral 1888 Jan 1 I married Newton Posey to Altamary Butler Mar 1 Mrs. Howard and her baby died. Mar 2 I had funeral for Mrs. Howard and baby at Chestnut Creek. Nov 25 Dock married Bama Logan, she is dau. of Henry and Becky Logan I married them. Dec 10 Ethan and Lula's baby died, I did the funeral for them, one hard job. Dec 11 Ethan and Lula's baby was buried at Verbena, he sat silent at the grave until very late that night. Dec 14 Went to W.F. Claughton's their baby was born. Dec 29 I married Bill Driver and his wife. 1889 Jan 15 Molly married, we raised log house for them in one day Feb 28 Thomas W. Wilson married at my house Apr 11 I married John Bullard and M McKinney Oct 28 Went to Elmore and preached Fannie Estes Funeral. Dec 19 Little Wibur Claughton died as a result of fall from barn loft. Dec 20 I preached little Wilburs funeral burial Chesnut Creek Dec 21 Bud Jacks, First wifes brother, came from Coosa to see me. 1890 Jan 5 R.C. Hardy and Mary Williams married at my house JAn 14 Nathan Hardy died Feb 28 Dick Haws was hung at Birmingham Mar 21 Nancy Calloway, Wife of John, died near old Salem on the River. Mar 22 I preached Mrs. Nancy C. Calloway's funeral at Salem. July 9 I preached the Claxton Funeral Aug 4 John Roberson died, I preached his funeral Aug 10 Preformed the Perkins marriage 1891 May 22 Went to Coosa,staid all night with Wife's first cousin,Emmie Dennis and her husband, Bud Dennis May 24 Preached at Old Salem in Coosa. Albert Bulger died and I had his funeral at Old Salem in Coosa. He married a Little Aug 6 Went to Father and Mother Posey's for lunch.Bud and Will Dennis, sons of J.M. Dennis of Coosa, were there from Coosa. Aug 17 Mr. Billy Ray died at Coopers Aug 18 Preached funeral for Mr. Ray, he was buried with full Masonic Honors Aug 21 Peter Cooper died early Morning and was buried at Chestnut Creek 4 P.M. he had requested to be buried the day he died and his grave not to be marked in any way. He was my wifes Grandfather. 1892 Feb 18 Buried James Morgan at Cheshtnut Creek Apr 18 To Coopers to bury the Edwards baby, the Mother is Anna Dennis Edwards. June 25 Buried Bro. William Connell June 29 I extracted all my wife's teeth July 2 Rev. James Jones buried at Brundridge.
