    3. Carol, No I'm not from Chilton Co. I live in Montgomery now. My father, Robert Sr. was born in Shorter, his father, William Henry, was born in Elmore Co., his father, William Henry was born in the Chestnut Creek area of what was then Autauga Co, later Baker, then Chilton. My g-grandfather Willian Henry-b. 1861-, married Charlotte Baker, daughter of Alfred Baker. Mr. Little recalled a story about Alfred Baker to that you may find humerous. "Old Alf", as he called, was quite a ladies man, and although he was quite wealthy and influential, had a somewhat "shaded" reputation. He had the name of the county named after himself, thus Baker County. When his reputation caught up with him, the only the legislature could undo his naming the county after himself, was to pass a law making it unconstitutional for a county to be named after a living person. That's when it changed to Chilton Co. Some story, huh? I'm trying to contract Mr. Little to lead me to some sources of info in that area.
