    2. Hello listmembers. Please at least scan this message as it covers several subjects. 3 days ago a member made a very inapropriate post by mistake. I contacted him privately and almost all of you acted appropriately by not commenting. If you feel the need to complain about a post please do so to me privately. Do not use REPLY as that will go to the list! Flaming someone on a list tends to generate more inapropriate mail and is also against Rootsweb rules for mailing lists. The flaming has already generated twice the email the orginal email did and these things tend to snowball. If you're one of the parties involved please don't respond to this unless you really feel a strong need to, esp. Mike. I've received and accepted your apoligy. Interest in genealogy as people interact with relatives over the holidays as well as people with new computors tends to generate lots of email from newbes to both computors and/or genealogy let's remember to be patient with them. Now on a positive note I've gotten way behind on the 1880 census transcriptions this year. It should have been finished by now but I've been very busy at work and was also very burned out on census work and not having any time to work on my own genealogy. I hope to have the 1880 census online by May 2001 except for the Beat 5. Unfortunately that is the Chestnut Creek/Clanton area which is by far the largest but almost entirely unreadable. Potental future projects are indexing the 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 census, I don't think I'll ever attempt to do the entire census thing again on these later years. Another project that I'm considering is to index all the AL. death records for Chilton Co. I think it has more potental to be helpful than census work as census records are readily availible anywhere. The LDS church has most of the records that are legally availible on microfilm, (25 years back), but they involve many rolls of film and indexing could cut the time as well as the effort to research marginal ancesters by half. I welcome any comments and/or volunters as well as any information of genealogical value that anyone may have to offer. If you have any info you'd like to offer or would like to volunter please write me at <mailto.dddennis@concentric.net>. If you have a webpage dealing with you're family please send me a link WITH a short description of the families that apply to Chilton. Thanks for your patience if you read this far, David Dennis David Dennis, dddennis@concentric.net, UsGebWeb webpage for Lincoln Co., Ga + Chilton Co., Al, and Rootsweb mailing list owner for them and the SWORDS-L lists, among other things.
