October 1, 2004 Ala. workshop worth checking out By Nancianne Parkes Suber Special to The clarion-Ledger Even the toughest of hurricanes can't deter genealogists from their favorite pursuit — at least not for long! The Genealogical Research In Alabama Workshop in Prattville, Ala., was canceled due to Hurricane Ivan, but has been rescheduled for Oct. 9. It will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Prattville. Renowned genealogist Larry E. Caver Jr. will be the speaker. The meeting is free. If you had previously registered, no notification is necessary unless you can't attend. If you were not registered before, but would like to attend, please e-mail Caver at Lecaverjr@aol.com. Since so many Mississippians trace their roots through Alabama, these programs are particularly helpful in mastering the Alabama systems of research and records.
