    1. Re: AL Death Certificate Lookup
    2. Hi Barry. There are no death certs. in 1910 but there are some county records as Irma Roy said. There is a transcribed book of the records she mentioned availible locally which I'll be glad to check for you. They are from a variety of sources and the info included also varies. It may be a while before I get to the library and you may need to remind me as I'm very busy at work right now. For everyone, the LDS has very recently aquired the death indexes and the records themselves on microfilm, but they can be difficult to read. The records are not all there there until into the 1920's and they may and may not be there in that time frame. If I ever start another transcription project for Chilton after the 1880 census it will likely be putting an index online for Chilton Co. death records. The book, "Cemeteries of Chilton" shows a Sarah L. Chambers, b. 1862-5-31, d. 1910-2-1 buried at Mount Carmel Baptist. I may have a few more details availible if you write me with what you need I'll look into it. I hate to spend my time typing in info you already have. At 12:53 PM 10/16/00 -0400, you wrote: >Does anyone frequent the AL State Archives and not mind looking up a death certificate for me? Being from out of state, it appears my only other option is to request a certified copy for $22 which I really don't need; either a photocopy or simply the information is sufficient. Since I don't know if the record even exists, I am hesitant to send the money only to get a reply of, "sorry, we can't find the record"; that has happened too many times for me to count. I don't know how AL works, but I know in SC you can go to the state archives and look up the record yourself and print a photocopy. If anyone is willing to do this (I will gladly pay for the copying and shipping), the person I am looking for is: >Sarah Lafayette Chambers, died 2/01/1910 in Maplesville. I am assuming AL death certificates do indicate parents' names. > >Thanks for your help. > >Barry Fox >Greenville, SC > > > David Dennis, dddennis@concentric.net, UsGebWeb webpage for Lincoln Co., Ga + Chilton Co., Al, and Rootsweb mailing list owner for them and the SWORDS-L lists, among other things.
