In 1875, Martin Robinson married Miss Lucy Scott as shown in Marriage Book One, Certificate 339 located in the Probate Judge's Office in the Chilton County, Alabama Courthouse. The bondsmen were W. L. Campbell and W. D. Serter. I know that W. L. Campbell was sheriff for Chilton County during this time period. Couple of questions...... Was it common to have the sheriff as a bondsman during this time period or is it likely there was a personal relationship between these individuals? Does anyone know if W. D. Serter was serving as a public official or in a law practice at this time? W. D. Serter is listed in the 1880 Chilton County Census on p. 30, dwelling 107, family 107. I could not make out the occupation that he had listed beside his name. Does anyone familiar with this individual know what his occupation was? Again, for anyone familiar with Serter, do I have the spelling correct? My two source are very difficult to read. Thanks, Gregory O. Robinson
