    3. Hi Jim! I am in pretty much the same place as you. I did have one thought - do you have a copy of your Joseph's marriage certificate? Is there any reference to John Thomas there, i.e. did he sign as surety or was the wedding at the home of Mr. Nix, etc? I have not found where either John Thomas or Penelope are buried (can't find Penelope's second husband, Richard MIMS, either). I totally by accident found Penelope in the 1920 Bibb County census living with Elbert ARGO as "mother-in-law" . . . I know Martha Amanda married Elbert Elisha, but she died in 1902? What I haven't figured out is exactly when Penelope died and why she was living with Elbert ARGO if her daughter had been dead 18 years and he was remarried . . . why not live with one of her other daughters? I have not thus far been able to find Penelope in 1900 or 1910 nor have I found a death certificate for her. I don't recall - did John own any land? Would there be any reference to him in the Chilton County deed records? Keep in touch. I thought maybe in that time someone else would have found some information that I couldn't. John Thomas Nix was my GG Grandfather. He was born about 1846 in Coosa County, the son of Charles C. Nix. He married Penelope (Neppy) Collins in Autauga County in late 1865. I can't establish whether or not he fought in the Civil War, but he would have been almost too young to have. He's on the 1870 and 1880 Censuses in Chilton County. I found a record in the Chilton County Courthouse, dated in 1883, where he had made arrangements to sell an interest in the crop he was to raise. Then, in late 1887, his widow(?), Neppy Nix, re-marries to Richard Mims. I've never found any evidence to exactly when he died or where he might be buried. If anyone else has any information on this person, I would greatly appreciate it. Jim Nix --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Small Business - Try our new resources site!
