    2. Kay Rockett
    3. Elizabeth, I enjoyed your site and was thrilled to see the photo of the Moncrief store!! It looks like "S. W. Moncrief". Does anyone know if Sam MONCRIEF (who married Martha) started that store? Do any of you know which MONCRIEF..... Isaac or Sam.... was the father of Cematha/Samantha MONCRIEF, 2nd wife of Peter COOPER? Thanks!!

    1. Heritage Book deadline
    2. John K. Brown, Jr.
    3. The deadline for the Heritage of Autauga County has been moved to October 31, 1999. The reason for this is a backlog at the printers. Rather than have the manuscripts sitting in a hold bin for two months, it was decided that better use of the time could be made by extending the deadline and gathering more articles and photos. 1. Need research tips
    2. Kay Rockett
    3. I have strong preponderance of evidence for an ancestor and would like to know if you can suggest any other sources that I might check out for PROOF. I have an ancestor Peter COOPER who went from "probably" Fairfield Co, SC to Chilton/Autauga Co, AL ca 1820. I have a "very probable" father for him named Adam Sr. Adam Sr had four sons, according to censuses. One "disappeared" before or in 1820. The other three were Adam B. Jr., Andrew, and George. Adam Sr had three daughters: Mary, Nancy, and Margaret. Adam Sr's father was named Peter, and he had a brother named Peter. Doesn't it stand to reason he would name a son Peter? I think Peter is the one who "disappeared" before or in 1820. My ancestor Peter COOPER appeared in Chilton/Autauga County, AL before or in 1820. Among his children were Adam, Andrew, George, Nancy, Mary, and Margaret. His earliest neighbors in AL were the same men who had lived near Adam Sr in Fairfield Co ca 1800, so it appears they all moved together. Their surnames were STRINGFELLOW (Henry), GRAY, FUNDERBURGH/FUNDERBURK, and POSEY (Francis). I have probate records for both Adam Sr and Peter. I have extensive land deeds for both and census info, and I have checked censuses to see if any of the brothers or sisters might have moved to Autauga/Chilton, but I simply can't find a needed PROOF. Can anyone suggest documents or other sources that I might have overlooked? THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND HELP!! :)

    1. Death, Taxes & Autauga County Reunion
    2. John K. Brown, Jr.
    3. Hello, When you think of April 15th you naturally think of death and taxes. Two things we can't avoid. Well the good news is that April 15, 2000 is also the date of the next Old Autauga County Family Reunion. Mark your calendars now! The event is sponsored by the Autauga Genealogical Society. It will be much bigger and better than this year's reunion. We plan to have many more venders and booths. We checked the dates and there seem to be no conflicts with other events in the area. Everyone researching in the areas covered by old Autauga County is invited. That includes much of Chilton and Elmore counties. Please pass this along to your friends, relatives and other Alabama E-mail lists. Let's have a big crowd!! John ----------- John K. 1. Will your family be included?
    2. John K. Brown, Jr.
    3. Will your family be left out of the "Heritage of Autauga County" book? Will your family history and stories be there for your children and grandchildren to enjoy? The following is an up to date list of the surnames for which we have at least one story submitted. If your family is not listed, they won't be in the book. The deadline is August 31st so you still have plenty of time to submit an article. There is no charge for submitting an article and you do not have to order a book. 1. Re: Chilton Co. AL. cemetery book
    2. Could you please look up Dora Malone Riggins wife of Daulby Newton Riggins...she died about 1904 . Daulby was then the postmaster in Thorsby, Chilton Co, AL. Yes I am also related to Clecklers, and Jeff Cleckler was a guest in my grandfather's home in Boston when he was a WWII sailor. There are two Daulbys/Dolbys...father and son...one is probably buried with Melissa Rasberry Riggins his wife/mother of #2. also, if you find Dora, are there any other Malones nearby...this is an old name in the USA but we haven't a clue who she belonged to. Thank you Maryellen
