    3. Brandon, I couldn't find a John Thompson Roper. However, I did find the following in the 1850 Census of Lowndes County: Joseph F. Roper 42 ME Clergyman NC Louisa P. " 38 TN William R. " 15 AL Rachael E. " 12 AL Joseph F. " 1 AL Are you sure about the name? This seems like too much of a coincidence. This Roper would have been born in NC in 1807/1808 and from the ages of these children, he was in AL by the mid-1830s. 1. Chilton County pages
    2. Hello everyone. Due to several request's recently I've finally gotten around to creating a web page for links to Chilton related families. I know of several that are not included yet. If you have a family web page that you would like to see included please send the the URL even if you've sent one before. The 1880 census is going well with Beat 3 being transcribed by Christine Bonoyer and about the first half of Beat 4 being proofed by Jim and Donna Nix while I'm working on transcribing the last half. Beat 7 still needs someone to transcribe it, volunters welcomed. I will be starting on Beat 5 which is twice as large as any of the others as soon as I can get to Georgia to pick up a microfilm reader I bought. It is too difficult to read to transcribe from print copies. If anyone has something they would like to see posted on the internet of historical or genealogical interest please email me. 1. Goodgame/Rasberry
    2. I wanted to be sure I thanked everyone who responded to my question on the John Rasberry/ Sarah Goodgame marraige. The large number of responses may be due to the many desendants of theirs. >From Cecil Little's book, "Chilton County, ALABAMA, Index to Probate Court Records,Abstracts of County Newspapers, County Confederate Veterans, Book 1, 1868-1924", which has been reprinted recently. page 116, The Chilton Veiw (newspaper), 1889, issue of 4-11-1889: Fruitful Citizens: John Goodgame formerly of the Mulberry Community now of the Jumbo Community and his wife are in advanced age, he is 92 and she is 89, they have 259 living desendant's. The ages quoted are not in sync with my other info but I thought it interesting. They both died soon after the article. Another ancestor of mine Elijah Miears is in the same issue; "Elijah Miears born 1808 is still living" David Dennis David Dennis, Proud Roosweb Donor

    3. Dennis, The Goodgame/Rasberry marriage record you were asking about was not listed in the books. I believe there are quite a few in Bibb county that were not listed, or else they were in the book that was lost. It is, however, among the loose marriage records filed in the Probate office. I have a copy of the one you are looking for. John Goodgame to Sally Rasberry, 14 Feb 1822 by Joseph W. Jones, J.P. Consent of Thomas Rasberry, 5 Feb 1822, for his daughter. On the outside of the document it said, "The within executed the fourteenth of February 1822. [signed] Joseph W. Jones, J.P."
