    3. Hello Dennis -- Thanks tardily for this detailed reply to my December message, and yesterday to my "grave" message. You are truly a goldmine of information. Today I heard directly from Ben Roberts about the location of John Roper Billingsley's grave in Thorsby Memorial Cem. He has forwarded my query to Betty Collins, who I guess may have more info. I've exchanged messages with Betty before, so I'll enjoy making contact again. Thanks again. 1. Re: Billingsley graves, Thorsby Memorial Cem.
    2. Hi Pat. Ben Roberts has moved on as far as I know. I'll try to remmember to enquire further at the next meeting of the Historical Society, however as I work night's and weekends I miss almost all the meetings. Ben edited the book but the sources listed for the actual census of that cem. are "Paul Thomas, Lynn Arnold + Kim Cleckler" date 1987. It's likely that Ben would not have details on any cemetery he didn't do and you might have you're cousin try to find the other person's named. I wish I lived back in God's country and had the time to look for you myself. 1. Billingsley graves, Thorsby Memorial Cem.
    2. Salis, Pat
    3. Hello -- I'm having trouble locating the graves of my great grandparents, John Roper Billingsley and his wife Martha <maiden name unknown>. I'll appreciate any suggestions. A kind correspondent informed me that the book "Cemeteries of Chilton" (compiler Chilton Co. Historical Society and Archives, Inc.; editor Benjamin D. Roberts; publisher Mail Specialist, Clanton, AL) had this listing for Thorsby Memorial Cemetery, on page 239: Billingsley, J.R. 12 Sep 1847 - 12 Sep 1922 Billingsley, J.R., Mrs. 30 Oct 1856 - 15 Sep 1935 Within the past several weeks, my cousin visited Thorsby Memorial Cemetery and could not find the graves. He then went to the Thorsby town hall, and he and a staff member there looked over the records for the cemetery and were unable to find John R. or Martha (they did find other Billingsleys: John & Elizabeth, and Emmit & Virgie). What are we doing wrong? Does anyone know whether Mr. Roberts or the Chilton Co. Historical Soc. can be reached by email? I'd like to ask them how they found John and Martha's graves. Thanks. Pat, in Texas

    1. Re: Billingsley graves, Thorsby Memorial Cem.
    2. Irma Roy
    3. Pat, Thorsby Memorial was surveyed by Paul Thomas, Lynn Arnold and Kim Cleckler in August 1987. They found the graves you are looking for next to William J. Billingsley and Elisha E. Billingsley on one side and Wendol Hollis Pate and Myrtie Tolbert Pate on the other (at least this is the way it is listed in the CofCC book). Most people who survey a cemetery go row by row. Hope this helps. Irma J. Roy At 10:38 AM 2/8/00 -0600, you wrote: > >Hello -- > >I'm having trouble locating the graves of my great grandparents, John Roper >Billingsley and his wife Martha <maiden name unknown>. 1. Re: McCULLOUGH Land Patents 1858 Chilton Co.
    2. I find no mention of either of the names in any of my books. The online BLM land patents are listed by the present day location of the land. Chilton was not formed until 1868. Thus records might be located in Shelby Co. There are a few McCullogh's listed in the books I own and too many Martin's to mention. I can send you copies of the few pages I have if you send a mailing address. David Dennis At 03:13 PM 2/4/00 EST, you wrote: >Looking for any information on Moses H. 1. HELP!! 1880 Census Dist. 3
    2. Hi everyone. I have a copy of the Beat. 3, 1880 Federal Census that needs to be proof read. I've been working on a copy of the 1820 and 1840 for another county/state for so long and lost track of where I am on it so many times I'm not going to pull off of them until it's done. Meanwhile this census record is on hold. I can provide full copies for this one and a proofreader would need to be able to read and edit MS Excel files. A proofreader for this dist. would allow me go on to finishing the Beat. 4 transcription which is 1/2 done and to start the impossible Beat. 5, after getting the GA pages in order. HELP! I've bit off more than I can chew and really need some help at this point to get back on track. David Dennis David Dennis, Proud Rootsweb Donor
