    3. Leslie, I have the book on the 1870 Baker County (Chilton County) Census and could not find any William C. Atkinson listed. He would be about 12 then. In 1860, Chilton County had not been established. Baker County was established in 1868 and I believe the records start in 1869. The name was changed in 1872. Chilton County was formed from Bibb, Shelby, Autauga and a little bit of Perry Counties. For the 1860 census, you should try these counties. Bibb County Alabama 1860 Census is in book form but I didn't find your William in the one I own written by Elia Griffin Daws. She also has the 1860 Perry County in book form and I didn't find any Atkinson or any variation of the spelling of this name in her book. Sorry but I don't have copies of the 1860 Shelby or Autauga County Census. Maybe someone else has those. Irma J. 2. Chilton County, nee Baker was not formed until later than 1860. It was formed from Shelby,Bibb Autauga and a small piece of Perry. The Autauga 1860 is online at http://www.rootsweb.com/~alautaug/1860cen.html Bibb and Shelby might be online at their webpages respectly.
