I have not been sending these strange emails. I did have a virus and it was sending the emails to you all. I am deeply sorry - Have finally gotten it out of my system and just gotten my computer back from the technician. It so corrupted my McAfee Virus Scan that I could not delete it to install the latest version. It was BadTrans 32. Terrible. Thank you for your understanding and again I am sorry. Loney
Hi Judy Sharpe, 22 Apr 2001 My last three messages to you at the above email address were returned marked "unable to deliver - server has no such address". ================================================ Please let me know you new email address. =================================================
I realize that the 1880 census is online, but there are parts of the census which do not show. My ancestor does show, but, I really need to know where his father and mother were born. I am looking for John POOLE. It shows 52B as the number on the census. John himself was born in GA. Anyone who can be of any help will be greatly appreciated. Leslie Hill
Sorry, I should have given better directions in my last message. From I-65 take Cobbs Ford Rd. exit, by Holiday Inn. Continue on Cobbs Ford Rd.(which soon becomes East Main St.) to downtown Prattville. This is approx. 3-4 miles. You will past under a railroad bridge and then turn left one block past the Funeral Home which will be on your right. The Doster Center is at the end of that road where it deadends into Pratt Park. It is a former National Guard Armory. If you are coming from Hwy. 82, continue straight ahead past the Courthouse after crossing Autauga Creek. When you reach the deadend at the Primary School, turn right onto Washington St. Continue several blocks. Turn left just before 2nd bridge over Autauga Creek. You will see the Library on the right and the Doster Center is just ahead on the left. John <(^-^)> ******************** John K. Brown Researching: BROWN, ABNEY, BURT, WATTS
One final reminder! Robert Davis will speak tonight 7-9 PM. The Fair will be tommorrow, April 7, 9 AM till 4 PM at the Doster Center in downtown Prattville. It is located near Library and Pratt Park. Cost is $3.00 for Saturday Only. John <(^-^)> ******************** John K. Brown Researching: BROWN, ABNEY, BURT, WATTS

Many thanks to all the kind replies to my post on Nola Avery from yesterday. Don Avery
Can anyone supply any info on Nola Avery who died Nov. 1933 as listed in Chilton Co. records, Volume 49, Certificate 24092, Role 3 ?? I'm hoping to find more about her regarding her parents and/or spouse and siblings. Sorry that this is all I have which came from an Alabama Death Database in Ancestry.com I'm hoping to find that she matches up to Nola Avery, born in Dale Co. abt. 1875. Her parents were James L. Avery & Martha Baxley. Thanks in advance. Don Avery Massachusetts
Just realiized that I quoted the wrong admission price. The Friday night program is free, cost for the main Fair on Saturday is $3.00 at the door rather than $5.00. Sorry for the inconvenience. I have been researching the Chambers family for a number of years, trying to find the ancestry of my gg grandfather, Israel Chambers. From AL census records, the only information I know about him is that he was born somewhere in MS between 1820-1825. He married in Bibb County, AL in 1843, so I have roots in those surrounding counties as well. Recently I began a methodical search through the MS and AL census records trying to find some kind of connection. The information I have gathered (and still am gathering) could also be useful to other researchers of this family name, so I wanted to make it available. I have created a small website with what I have gleaned so far. Of course, my ultimate hope is that someone from my Chambers family will come forth with additional information. I will also be sending this URL to the county website coordinators hoping it will get posted there too. I thought I would get a jump start with the mailing list. I hope someone finds this useful. Friends, I have great news. The Heritage of Autauga County is due this summer [this is a different book from Larry Nobles' book which is already available and which I also recommend]. The committee is completing the last batch of proofs (a task we have been working on since last May), the typesetting has been done, and the book is set to go to the printer by early March. We will then get what are known as the "blue-line proofs", which is a complete proof copy of the book. We will have to check this to make sure the photos are with the proper stories, layout is how we planned, and errors have been properly corrected. This will NOT be a long process. The publisher has assured me the book will be out by late spring or early summer. If you are not familiar with the Heritage of Autauga County, it is a part of a series of books being printed for every county in Alabama. Over half the counties in the state have already been published. The books are large format, hard-bound, and printed on archival paper to last a lifetime. The material for the Autauga book, like all of the others, was collected by a committee of local amateur genealogists and historians from folks like you. The book will be divided into two parts, topical and family. The topical section will have sections on county history, community histories, military history, church histories, business histories, organizations, and life in Autauga County. There are many photos included. The Life in Autauga County section was particulary interesting to me. We collected a marvelous series of stories from local people on growing up in this county, most of them from the days of the Depression. There are stories on farm life, courting, weddings, childhood fun, the first time electricity came to the farm, and many others. These are great stories that we need to share with our children. The Family section is just that, family histories from Autauga county written by the family members themselves or people with a special interest in that family. Submittion of stories was free up to 1000 words and two photos. Family histories were soliciated from the Autauga Geneaological Society members, the Autauga County Heritage Association, this mail list, and through the newspaper (mostly the Montgomery Advertiser as the Prattville Progress was of no help at all). It is the largest collection of Autauga County family histories available. Not complete by any means, but everyone had the opportunity to publish their family histories. The cost of the book is now $64.75 including shipping and may be ordered from: Autauga County Heritage Book Committee, P. O. Box 680295, Prattville, AL 36068. I want to thank the members of the committee who have worked, and continue to work tirelessly, on this book. And of course I want to thank all of you who submitted stories. I hope you enjoy the finished product and will realize the work that it took to bring it about. I know I am very much looking forward to seeing it!!!! Can someone please tell me the current membership dues for the Chilton County Historical Society? I need to renew my membership for 2001 and I seem to remember that dues have gone up but can't find the information. Your help is greatly appreciated. Irma J. Roy
William Conquest (Bucky) Wyatt, b. 1796 in SC, lived near Chestnut Creek Baptist Church in Coopers, where he and his wife Mariam Wright are buried. They raised a large family there. I have determined that they were probably the sons of an Elijah S. Wyatt, a Baptist preacher who started a church in Pike Co, AL in 1830. They were supposed to have been from SC. Evidently, they moved to Jasper Co, GA prior to the move to Al because Bucky and Mariam were married in Jasper Co, Ga on Nov 19, 1815. Any help on this family would be appreciated.
