Which of the two Mt. Carmels are you interested in? Samford University Library is the repository for Alabama Baptists and may have the records or be able to help you. I can't put my finger on their address right now, but if you need it I will try to find it later for you, or someone on the list may have it. You may also try contacting the Chilton Baptist Association, 1108 4th Avenue North, Clanton, AL 35045. What families are you researching at Mt. Carmel and maybe we can help you. E. Hi I need help . I am trying to track down the mother and father of Sally C. Horsley. She was born in 1870. Can anyone help? Thank you Fred
I recently came into possession of a family album, with wonderful old photos. The problem is that the family members who could tell me who are in the pictures, have all passed away. Some of the pictures are marked, many are not. As I continue to go through them, I will post some on website for others to view, enjoy, and maybe help me in determining exactly who these people are. Since the pictures are in the family album, the logical assumption would be that at least one person in the photo is a relative, but which one I don't know. I am starting with two pictures, one was labeled as "Woodmen of the World, Maplesville, AL", and the other is a group of men who I am guessing all worked at Twin Tree Lumber Company in Maplesville, which is where my ancestors worked. Both of these photos would have been taken in the very early 1900's. I would appreciate any help that others can give in identifying these men. You view the pictures at: http://members.aol.com/btcmfox/pictureswebpage.html Thanks! Barry Fox SC

I sent this note to the NIX-L list and then realized that I should send it to the Chilton County list also. My GG Grandfather was Joseph Peter Nix, b. 1869, in what is now Chilton County, Alabama. His parents were John Thomas Nix and Penelope Jane Collins. John's father was Charles C. Nix. Charles C.'s father was William Nix, b. 1765 in South Carolina, d. 1862 in Alabama. While visiting with my aunt recently, she gave me a list of her father's aunts and their spouses. The list was as follows (spelling hers): Joseph Peter Nix's sisters Martha - Emmet Argo Myrtle - Doc Robison Annie - Joe Glasscock Maydel (Mary Liza) - Frank Cherry Sealie - Tom Crowson Janie - Shug Webb Lish - Quillie - Maniel Deize I'm pretty sure that Martha was Martha Amanda, Sealie was Celia Berneice (sometime Sallie), and Annie was Annie Virginia. I was also told that 2 of these sisters were married to "Shug" Webb. If someone is familiar with these women and could help me sort out their names and their spouses' names, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Jim Nix Birmingham, AL
My Great Grandfather, Joseph Peter Nix, died on September 23, 1953. He died in Clanton, although I think he had been living in Tallapoosa County with a daughter just prior to his death. If there is someone who is doing research at the Clanton newspaper at any time in the not too distant future and would look up his obituary for me, I would appreciate it. I'll return the favor if I can. Jim Nix Birmingham, AL
