Does anyone know how the community near Kincheon called Pools Crossroads got it's name? Was it for a person/family or a landmark? My family in Chilton Co was named POOL and my gggrandfather is buried in Kincheon Cemetery. Thanks for any clues. Leslie Hill

Subject: Autauga Cemetery Book Project We have set our first official "Committee" meeting on the Autauga Cemetery Book project for next Thursday, August 29th at 7:00 pm. at the "Little White House" next to the Heritage Center in Prattville. We plan to meet and start determining what cemeteries we have sufficiently surveyed, and which cemeteries we need to survey. We also plan to discuss possible formats for the book. We aks that all interested persons bring copies of any cemetery survey (s) they have done which we can possibly use for the book. We need all the hands and minds we can muster up to accomplish this goal. We need people who can get out in the woods and survey cemeteries and we need people who can type. We will have a limited amount of time to get the surveying done in the fall. There are some of the cemeteries located in remote locations which must be surveyed before deer season starts in November. After this we will only have about a month's break in January-February before turkey season begins. Please make plans to attend this meeting next week if at all possible. Share this information with others who may be interested in helping. We will try to plan a follow-up meeting in late September to kick off the "surveying". If you have any questions, please feel free to call myself (358-5351) or Jane Klinner (365-7176). Your "fellow digger", Larry

Hello, Working the lines of John Baggs/Boggs who appears in the 1860 Bibb Co. Census, Randolph P. O., living in the home of S. K. Williams. It appears John was married to Sarah, probably S. K. Williams' daughter, with children Mary, Georgianna, Martha, Josephine, and Mariah. I find him again in the 1870 Baker Co., AL census (I understand Baker became Chilton?) with a second wife, Martha, stepchildren Frank and Washington Fowler, and daughter Martha, son George. In 1880 he has made it to Winn Parish, LA, with wife Maria, stepsons Frank and Wash, daughters Lillian, Stacia, Docia, Bettie, and son John. Apparently he lost a couple of wives and several children along the way. Within some time the S. K. Williams family makes it to Winn Parish, LA as well. Is anyone else working this particular line? Is there anyone who can look up marriages in Bibb or Baker/Chilton Co. to see if there exists any marriage records of John Baggs/Boggs and any Williams, Fowler, et al? Thank you. Gregg Davies Winn Parish, LA

There was an obituary or death mentioned of Meta (Mrs. W.B.) Vance in the BANNER on 18 August 1904. Could this be the one you are looking for? If so, the newspaper is supposed to be at the Chilton/Clanton Library. Their email address is: CCPL@scott.net. I am not sure this is the current email address, but you can try. By the way, there was also one for Mrs. C.W. Vance in the UNION on 9 April 1908. This, too, should be at the library. Hope this has helped you. Betty Collins EHGCollins@aol.com
