Hi Kay, Glad to have volunteers and I'm sure we can work somthing out. I still have several things to work out and may wind up the ALA coordinator before all is settled but I will keep you informed. My main issue is getting legable copies for volunters to work from but there are others. I am still waiting for details myself on what software we can use. Hello all, I am starting on the census for 1880 (Chilton)on the UsGenweb Census Project. I want to encouarge others to do so as well. I hope to get all availible Chilton census info availible free on the net. If you would like to volunter you can write me at the address below. This is not really as difficult as it may seem if everyone would do a few pages it would be there for generations to come. I can provide copies of the census to volunters. -- Dwight David Dennis,1014 Ski Lodge 3,Birmingham,Al.35209 dddennis@concentric.net,http://www.concentric.net/~Dddennis/surnames.htm Chilton County UsGenWeb page,http://www.concentric.net/~Dddennis/chilton.htm listowner for ALCHILTO-L mailing list for Chilton and surrounding counties see http://www.concentric.net/~Dddennis/chilmail.htm
Hello everyone, I'm going through my stuff looking for loose ends. I have a family group sheet from "ancestor trails to Georgia and Alabama,by Dorman Laurez McDonald" that shows decendants of John Yates of Coosa Co.,AL. It shows a marraige of his daughter Dorcas Yates to Samuel Dennis on 20 Jul 1840.The problem is the Autauga Co. marraige book shows Dorcas Bishop. She could have been a widow but I would like to resolve this. -- Dwight David Dennis,1014 Ski Lodge 3,Birmingham,Al.35209 dddennis@concentric.net,http://www.concentric.net/~Dddennis/surnames.htm Chilton County UsGenWeb page,http://www.concentric.net/~Dddennis/chilton.htm listowner for ALCHILTO-L mailing list for Chilton and surrounding counties see http://www.concentric.net/~Dddennis/chilmail.htm
Hi, Terry. I'm assuming you're on the MONCRIEF list. Who is the MONCRIEF sister you mentioned as being a relative of mine? Hi all, The Bureau of Land Management has a great new website where you can search many of the records of federal land grants after 1820. This includes Alabama. You can search by several different methods and can view a digital version of the oridginal document. Caution however I have seen a case where their info differs from the WPA data by Barefeild but with access to the oridginal it should be easy to check. I recommend this site to everyone, some grants were still being issued in very late part of the 19th century. Also the info is indexed by the PRESENT county location of the land. The URL is http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ -- Dwight David Dennis,1014 Ski Lodge 3,Birmingham,Al.35209 dddennis@concentric.net,http://www.concentric.net/~Dddennis/surnames.htm Chilton County UsGenWeb page,http://www.concentric.net/~Dddennis/chilton.htm listowner for ALCHILTO-L mailing list for Chilton and surrounding counties see http://www.concentric.net/~Dddennis/chilmail.htm
Hi Terry, That's great, the info could answer a lot of questions for Dennis and Moncrief researchers. I don't have anything on Esco but will ask around.Maybe someone on the list can help. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I have a lot of information on the Dennis' listed with the SAR member, James Swords. This is my line. I am going to mail some copies to you tomorrow of various things I've collected on this line. - For one, I have a copy of the original form by Edward Dennis when he made the application for membership to SAR. I have copies of all of Edwards notes from his research. Please note that he never mentions how some issues were proven, so some of it I've never been sure of. The Moncrief listed is a sister to the Moncrief that (Kay Rockett?) is searching for. Oscar Dennis' first wife was Drucilla Esco (my great grandmother). Her father was J.M. Esco. I have been to the gravesites, t the records, everywhere, and can never get info on the Esco family. Has anyone inquired about any Esco's. He was married twice that I know about and I believe that my line was from his marriage to a Mary Goolsby. I may have to go to Venezuela on Friday. If I don't I will start reorganizing my information to share with all of you. If I do have to go I'll be gone for several weeks. Sorry. Terry Forman

My great great grandmother was "Ella" Hicks. She married Thomas Faulkner in Chilton County July 15, 1885. They married in the WilliamCrawford Dickinson home by a JP named Mims. They came to Texas sometime in the early 1900s. Ella died in 1914 and is buried in the Eureka, Navarro Co. cemetery. Her death record shows she died of tuberculosis. It states she is a widow. It also gives the information that her father was "Mr. Hicks" (Now that was not a big help) I would like to find out about who her family was. I have a picture of her at the bottom of this page. http://www.flash.net/~barker/thomas.htm I would also like to know if anyone can look up the death index in Chilton Co. for Thomas "Tom" Gillespie Faulkner. He seems to have disapeared. We have him giving his daughter, Buleah, a bible in Navarro Co., Tx in 1912, but Ella is a widow by 1914., but there is no death record of him in Texas. So if someone could look up from 1912-1914 for his name it would help us in Texas a lot. The rest of the family is buried in a family plot outside of Billingsley...see at http://www.flash.net/~barker/cemetery.htm and in the Billingsley cemetery behind the Patillo home. I don't know if I unsubscribed for a few days and forgot to suscribe back or not. Anyway I have definitely resubscribed now, but still havennn't seen anything posted. Has anyone had any success in finding Jacob's parents? Was his father Joseph? I would appreciate hearing about any new information. Thanks. Glenda --------------DCF10FA8A6BF40E821D77441--

Hello everyone,The list now has 20 subscribers in less than 3 weeks, but only 4 or so have posted anything. I suggest we have a roll call where everyone identifies themselves and tells what lines they're interested in. Writing long posts is generally not effective it is best to write just enough to get a response but don't be too brief. Not mentioning a time frame for an individual is too brief and interested in any info on a surname is too wide but any post is welcome those are just suggesstions.ANY post is welcome. Here is mine, I am too broad but narrow it somewhat by time frame. I am interested in the DENNIS,POSEY line most esp. their origins before AL in the period of 1820 to 1850. Also interested in hearing from any descendants of Jesse Dennis b:1799 d: cir 1897. I am also interested in brief descriptions of the exact origins of any surnames immediately prior to AL for posting to a web page devoted to the same. For exanple I know that; "Gower,Henry and James R. Dennis came from Sumter Co.,SC and Mathias Dennis came from Lincoln Co., Ga;" to Autauga County later Chilton County. I hope to someday build a page that shows clues as to who moved together from where. -- Dwight David Dennis,1014 Ski Lodge 3,Birmingham,Al.35209 dddennis@concentric.net,http://www.concentric.net/~Dddennis/surnames.htm Chilton County UsGenWeb page,http://www.concentric.net/~Dddennis/chilton.htm listowner for ALCHILTO-L mailing list for Chilton and surrounding counties see http://www.concentric.net/~Dddennis/chilmail.htm

BTW I'm researching BURNETT, GENTRY, HONEYCUTT/HUNNICUTT, ROBINSON/ROBERSON/ ROBERTSON, SCOTT, SHRADER/SCHRADER, VANDERSLICE, and WHATLEY in or around Chilton County. The DUCKs may also be mine, but I haven't researched them. Pauline Robinson Lee

Scott--Gothard--Johnstone--Langstone. Thank you >Judy > JUDYGRAMMER@GALIS.COM <JUDYGRAMMER@GALIS.COM> Hello, I see you have SCOTTs! My only proven SCOTT was Margaret, my 3g maternal grandmother. Margaret was born 30 Aug 1775 in VA. She and Benjamin VANDERSLICE were married in Mercer Co., KY. in 1795. Their bondsman was Thomas SCOTT. Margaret and Benjamin moved to AL about 1820. SCOTTs appear in the census in the same area about the same time. The VANSERSLICEs in Chilton descend from Margaret and Benjamin; the SCOTTs may be related to her, also. (There is always a hope.) Hoping to find a cousin, Pauline Robinson Lee, an Alabamian in California
I don't think the archives even have them. However the Autauga Probate office has the counties copy of theirs.Other counties prob. do too. The LDS might have a copy but I don't think the state archives even has a copy. I recommend starting with the Barefeild book as it is organized by dates and shows some interesting possiblites as to moved at the same time and in early years esp. around 1820 sometimes shows a location proir to AL It will also give a better idea of which county to look in. The book at the Autauga courthouse is organized by location and shows who were neighbors. The Burueau of Land Managment has a searchable database online that can be searched by surname that's also good, I used the Ancestory site to search it but I think the BLM's site is back unline and it's free but I don't have the Url. Maybe someone on the list has it and will post it? I have found several who where not listed on the BLM db in the Barefeild. Hope this helps, I will be glad to check the Autauga book next time I'm there if you can give me the exact location, Section,Township and Range to check, I can't search the whole book for surnames I'm afraid.Hope this helps.
